Yeah, I like starting after dev camp. We’ll get lots of commentary from coaches and front office as well.

But appreciate @AlexModvechkin8 starting a new thread. New day dawning!
Finally got some time to sit at a computer and do some cleanup. I do most of my HFing from my phone these days but starting threads is a pain on mobile.

The other goalie invite was Lokovics goalie, won the championship with them prior to this year and was traded away mid season. Went to Lethbridge and became the starter. Probably a GMRM crush. Headed for college in the NCAA next year.

Couple of the guys have HF Prospects threads.

And EP pages:
C - Daniel Russell - Michigan State
LW - Ryan St Louis - Brown University
RW - Hayden Stavroff - Dartmouth
D - Stan Cooley - Colorado College
D - Nolan Krenzen - Nebraska-Omaha & SC Stingrays ECHL
D - Seamus Powell - Merrimack
G - Chase Anderson - USHS-Prep
G - Rasmus Korhonen - Sweden - Västerås IK (HockeyAllsvenskan)
G - Jackson Unger - Moose Jaw & Lethbridge WHL

One of the guys I’m interested in tracking is Schafer. He has already played 31 games in the DEL. And while it’s not the AHL, that is not a kids/junior league. He is playing with men and on the best team in the league. Might help him quickly adapt to the NA game.

Hopefully whoever does the scouting in the German leagues can redeem themselves a bit, Hanelt(drafted) and Kammerer(UDFA) were complete total busts. Or I guess more hopeful that the larger group got to watch him at the u18s&20s and came to an agreement together which is kind of how I picture it from GMRM talking about the pick post draft. Small sample for the German scout team though in all fairness but unsuccessful the past handful of years.

I have high hopes of Shafer being the next 'turns out to have been a steal in the 3rd' guy. I have no idea how prevalent 17 year olds in the top German league are, but I feel it's a damn good sign of his potential.

Bonus, no artificial age limitation on when he can play professional in North America.

It’s not common. As I said it’s not a development league so it’s mostly 23+ guys

There's six total German skaters in the NHL right now. Four of them were drafted before the Caps' first pick in their draft year and one was an UDFA who's become a journeyman 4th liner (Nico Sturm). Only German the Caps have "passed" on who became anything was JJ Peterka (34th overall in 2020 when the Caps took Lapierre at 22), so it's not like whoever covers the German leagues for the Caps has had a lot of opportunities to shine.
