Prospect Info: Caps Prospects General Discussion Thread - 2024-25

Windsor is up 3-1 in the series.

Parascak and PG are starting to get in tough in their series. Currently down 2-1 in both the series and in Game 4. But I'm not sure Parascak would be more than a black ace in Hershey should he be re-assigned.

Given how his season has been lately, i wouldn't be very comfortable throwing him out there against AHL D's just yet. He was out for a while after taking a bad headshot and only returned for the Playoffs.

I'd definitely bring him along like they did with Cristall year ago.

Real tough series for Ravensbergen. He has been outdueled by Ondrej Stebetak who is other draft-eligible goalie, only 17-year old. Didn't have a good regular season but again, he's just 17, projected to be a late-round pick in this draft. Shades of Samsonov for me when i watched Ravensbergen wandering behind his own net in Game 3.

Windsor Spitfires forward Ilya Protas enjoyed the best individual performance in the Western Conference, being voted Best Playmaker and Best Stickhandler while finishing second in a pair of other categories (Smartest Player, Best Shootout Shooter).

Good on Protas! But what you missed is Patrick Thomas had just as awards:

* Third (tie) in hardest working (in East)
* Second in best faceoff (east)
* Third in Best Penalty Killer (East)
* Third in Best Shootout Shooter (East)

Hardworking, faceoffs, PK’er - sounds like a Dowd replacement. Sign Dowd for two more years and bring Patrick up! Let’s do it!

People were really insistent on putting him in the top 10 prospects after the WJC ...
His QMJHL production (or lack thereof) was my hesitation in terms of voting for him. Having said that, I do think he projects well as a bottom 6 winger with a lot of all-around upside (defense, forechecking, energy). He was also captain for Saint John prior to the trade.

Having said that, if the Caps pool was thinner, he would absolutely be top 10. He cracked Wheeler's top 10 (admittedly at #10).

I feel like Meteiko is gonna be what most ppl thought Protas would project to be a few years ago, bottom 6 energy griner, good defensive game, does most things well. Of course having him become what Protas has would be the dream, but a solid bottom 6er for a third rounder is always a great result.

Chesley lost an edge in the neutral zone and begged for a call in OT while the other team took the puck and scored to get Minnesota knocked out, that’s who beat him out

Caps 2021 3rd rounder Brent Johnson recently signed with Wheeling in the ECHL. From a 20 second Google and skim of their news I couldn't find what type of contract it was. Caps have his rights until this coming August.

Adding later, it's an ECHL standard player contract.

Cristall is on fire tonight!
His vision on those assists is amazing and the accuracy of those passes is surgical. The 360 spinorama to Van Olm was highlight reel perfect.
If his game can translate to the NHL he could be a goal scoring nightmare for other teams.
Would Cole Caulfield be an accurate comparable for his size and game?
