  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Flash was okay but he was soft as hell and, in my opinion, a lot of players could have scored 20 goals on those Caps team. He had one good season after he left us in Florida then was pretty much useless the rest of his career.

Fleischmann and Fehr, I just associate both those names with not meeting expectations.

I'm hoping Parascak can be a top six forward for a long time for us.

He was pretty good in his short stint with the Avs too. Most of these mid-late 1st rounders turn out to be busts anyways. If he's to be at least a serviceable NHLer - it's still better than one of dozens prospects with uncertain future.

Flash was system player, Fehr at least PK'd and brought a little diversity in his value creation. At least my opinion but I get your point.

I don’t feel that way at all IRT F16. I thought he was a nice middle 6 multi role player. Not sure what expectations you had of him that he didn’t meet.

Well almost everyone in the 2003 first round was an all star or a first liner. There were a couple outright busts but Fehr is definitely in bottom tier of that draft’s first round.

Fleischmann was >.5ppg in ~650 NHL games. That's an extremely successful outcome for Parasack ...

Agreed here. Nice thing about having 'hit' on a coach like Carbs, we can be a little bit more deliberate with who we scout, having folks fit the existing style, etc. In prior years, we were a bit all over the place.

Didn't he end up having like... a blood clotting disease or something like that? Could have played a part.

Aww come on….he was absolutely a disappointment.

Caps ALMOST could not have done worse in that 1st round in 2003.

Fehr was a solid player viewed in the context of a normal draft. Almost any draft pick is going to look bad within the context of one of the deepest drafts of all time. Using HockeyReference's point share as a lazy tool, Fehr had 23.9 for his career, which puts him 41st in the 2003 draft. That mark puts him 33rd in the 2004 draft and 32nd in the 2002 draft.

It sucks that Fehr was drafted right before Getzlaf & Burns, but there were a lot of misses in the back half of the 2003 draft. Fehr's pick was better than (back half only):

15 - Nilsson
22 - Pouliot
25 - Stewart
27 - Tambellini
30 - Belle

And I would put the selection of Fehr on par with:

16 - Bernier
21 - Stuart
26 - Boyle
29 - Eaves

That accounts for 10 (including Fehr) of the 16 players drafted from 15-30.

If you don’t like the pick that’s on the caps. F16 was not a bad career return for where he was drafted.

That is fair. He was still underwhelming for me.

Here are the brackets. Has the full seeds as well. Denver is 3. Providence 2 in BC’s bracket. BU is second seed in MSU bracket.

<snipped>

Lenny could be up the end of March if Denver knocked them out again.
Not just Lenny ...

Just looking at the seeds and schedules.. assuming Minnesota beats UMass in the opening round, their second game on March 30 will be against top regional seed (and third in overall NCAA USCHO rankings), Western Michigan. Pretty realistic chance that if Ryan Chesley is leaving college, it will happen in early April. Just bears watching.

Hoping Hershey can secure the top spot early and perhaps we get to see Ryan Chesley get a game there before the end of regular season.

Alexeyev is on track for 8GP this year between Hershey and Washington. I wonder if they explored options for a vet to fill that role and just couldn’t find a deal that made sense?

Will be interesting to see where he lands in the offseason
