Improvement in the sense that after it's time for the likes of JvR and/or LaBanc to move on, we've got him. Not short-term.
And I'll keep saying...we have those players in the system or can find them...you like him, fine...i will continue to say it's not worth giving an asset for...

OK, fair enough. I just see "solid pass" and think there's more emphasis there.

...I am unable to figure out what in the heck you're trying to say but I suspect there's not much substance to it to begin with.
Poorly executed trolling attempt. He’s pretty much what you described. Has the skill to make it on the 2nd line as a non play driver. Scrappy and like to go to the net for a 3rd liner.

Would really hate to lose him but the team has next to nothing for trade chips.

The template is something like;

Yegor Sharangovich and a 3rd
For
Tyler Toffoli

Both former 24 goal men underperforming at time of trade.

Nucks need RHC or RHD or actually Toffoli.

Hoglander & Desharnais for Jokiharju?

As a Canuck fan watching UFA RHD to be Joki in the game today I couldnt help notice two brutal pizza's he threw to Canucks in the first period before playing only 14 min.

Even though they dump Desharnais, Joki probabably isnt it.

Is Hoglander likeable? Because some of these bottom 6 players the Pens have are tough to like, or even differentiate from each other.

When he’s playing like he’s capable he’s a fan favourite. Notice how many fans didn’t want to get rid of him last year in deadline deals. He hasn’t found a groove yet this year though. And he’s one of those guys that takes too many offensive zone penalties that are a piss off

He's basically dupuis without the personality.

And I mean that in the best and worst ways.

Best - if he succeeds in the league it will be through hard work and effort.

Worst - limited high end skills set, inconsistent with offensive output, best serviced as a really good 3rd liner or 3rd while on a second line.

(Which means he probably would actually look good next to sid).

I don’t think Dupuis is a good comparison. Hoglander isn’t just a hard worker with no skills. He has top 6 skill but he doesn’t have a top 6 IQ. He has solid 1 on 1 puck skills and a decent shot. He’s a guy who can create havoc on the forecheck to create his own chances or pounce on broken plays in order to score. Much more than your typical bottom 6 player. But he’s not a strong passer and can struggle to know where to be to play off of better players.

Further to this, Kiefer Sherwood has come in and basically taken his spot in the top 6 that Hoglander was expected to fill. Situations can change rapidly for these types of players though and we could see a reversal of sorts in another 20 games.

Pens have a massive glut of guys trying to get bottom 6 minutes, don't see the point of adding another that makes 3M starting next season.
