If Matthews/Marner are back together I'm not going out on much of a limb predicting another big game for both. I think they are clearly trying to force Berube to keep them together, and I can't really argue.

One of the best playmakers in the league paired with the league's best shooter? Kind of makes sense.
I was screaming for Matthews and Marner together since the Babcock days, then Keefe got comfortable with them together and wouldn't break them up when the chemistry seemed forced.

There has to be a middle ground imo. If it isn't working after 2 periods Nylander and Marner swap lines, can't be any more simple if you ask me. That goes for if you start the game with Nylander on Matthews wing as well. If offense ain't happening on any specific night, give it 2 periods (or less) and make the swap.

It's usually is a good little kick in the ass for both lines

I get a little extra satisfaction beating the Caps. Kuznetsov( no longer there ) and Carlson have been two of my least favourite players for a decade. So take it to them boys.

Interesting, why the hate for Carlson? Seems like a pretty uncontroversial and overall good player

I don’t remember which Leaf he was taking cheap shots at but I remember him hiding behind teammates when asked to answer for his decision. I’ve never had any use for cowards. Man up or don’t f#ck around to begin with, and that goes for Leafs players too.

I don't necessarily buy that this Washington team is the cream team, the surpeme team. They'll make the playoffs but I don't think they're going to win the East or the Metro.

But they are dangerous and they were lucky to get by them last time, bullshit disallowed goals notwithstanding.

Leafs-Caps always seem to be close, grind it out affairs or over after the 1st. Whatever happens, just hope for a good and entertaining game.

It sounds like I'm in the minority but I'm not a fan of Matthews-Marner together.

I get they had a great period together, and it was a good call, but Marner had 20 great periods of hockey away from Matthews in his absence, where we won 8 out of 10, and just feel like the team has much more balance when their driving their own line. If they shutdown Matthews-Marner, I feel they shutdown our team quite easily as Tavares-Nylander can often be hit or miss themselves.

Crazy how quiet it is around here today. I don't think it was this quiet all summer.

Leafs with a win can move into 1st in the Eastern Conference ..

Shooting % is through the roof and not sustainable.

Winning is all that's important.

If that creates the best team, go for it.

Definitely elevated, but their underlying numbers otherwise are pretty legit. The scoring will come down eventually, but they are still playing good quality hockey.

Yup, Matthews/Marner should be something we go to when the offense is stalling. It shouldn't be our strategy from the get go

These are the games where I would like to see a dominant performance from the Leafs. Stake a claim to first and send a clear message.

Wilson, Dubois, Duhaime surely to cause some nonsense.

It's gonna be the same struggle in the playoffs if they are together. I don't like it at all. We look like a one line team to me.
