That's a F***ing ridiculous statement. He has an over 900 save percentage on the last place team in the league. But he belongs in the AHL

That’s pretty fact. Allen absolutely would make a lot of teams happy. If there’s anything crazy in Anaheim with Gibson at the trade deadline. I certainly wouldn’t mind Allen here

Allen is underrated here. He had two bad seasons with the Blues and the last one of those was when Binnington took his job and lead STL to the SC. That being said, in his last season with STL, his save percentage was back to 93% and he was good for them in the playoffs. He started last year very well with the Habs and then his save percentage fell.

The reason is simple : he is a great backup, but he does not have the ability to play a lot of games. The more he plays, the worst his performances are. The question is : now that he has been rested proprely (because of injury), would a team take a chance on him for a potential SC run this year as a 1A/1B and as a backup next year. And if so what is the price of this ? I don't think WSH is super happy with Samsonov but I don't think they are the ones really desperate for a goalie.

If any player is traded between WSH and MTL, I believe Lehkonen would make more sense (but I don't want to enter in the debate about his value here ;) )

Jake Allen will never be any better than he is now which is providing questionable play for a team with aspirations of the Lottery. Samsonov ain’t much but the thought of adding to him for Jake Allen makes me physically ill. Samsonov is playing himself into a low cap hit. Take it, keep him, and try to nurture him. Don’t just immediately default to the worst possible scenario, aka paying something tangible for Jake Allen.

If that's true, you take this stuff too seriously and should lay your head on your desk for a while and do some deep breathing......Its just hockey bro

Allen is still a 1B goaltender. He's an above average backup goalie. He's very solid and consistent. Any GM who looks at the Habs players shouldnt look solely at this season, a good example was Ben Chiarot. His stats were trash this season but he still landed a big haul.

Think it could shake out as two deals - Sammy for highest price we can get for him (something like high draft picks from a team with goalie coaches who think they can polish his game out) and then aim for someone like Allen/Reimer ideally for mid round picks to back up VV.

IMO Samsonov for Allen would need Habs adding to be palatable - which it sounds like they're not keen on.

Too much chance of a Forsberg situation - he has all the tools to be a great goalie if the last few pieces click.

Jake Allen is 31 and after the season he has had, who on Earth would want him? He belongs in the AHL.

If Allen was putting those numbers up on a team like the Leafs, you would have a point. But Allen was playing in this mess of a season and there is just no way he can put up good numbers.

Allen is on a value contract and he is a fringe starter. Probably a starter on 5-10 NHL teams. Habs are not trading Allen until we see Price play games again. We value Allen and we are not desperate to move him.

Hughes has already stated trading a goalie is unlikely.
Montreal management likely know Samsonov might be available .

They prob won't trade Allen for a pick, but trading Allen for a younger goalie is a completely different story.

He was pretty solid actually. He is just not the elite type to take a bottom 3 team and get them through the playoffs. He is a 1b goalie who does well when playing 40-50 games.

Habs paid a 3rd for Allen, and he's been better (and signed a better contract) than back then.

So it would require a 2nd at minimum
