GDT: caps canes

That chatfield takedown was pretty nasty. Could have been far worse for McMichael, coulda snapped his leg or cracked his head

Haven’t been able to tune into as many games this year but managed to see this stinker. I think Leonard will get going soon, he has the look

It’s definitely been their issue the past few years. They’re always deep and they buy into their gameplan well. I always expect each year to be the year they at least go to the finals, but I think they’ve always lacked that true star player to give them the last push. Svech was looking like he could be that but stagnated. I thought Rantanen was going to push them over the top but obviously it didn’t work out (I think they did well to recover that situation as best they could and have been killing it since then). I still feel like they’re one player having a massive hot streak in the playoffs away from potentially winning a cup. Hope it doesn’t happen because I don’t like watching them at all and think Rod is the biggest baby in the league, but if the Canes broke through and won a cup on any given year I wouldn’t be shocked.

That being said I hope the Caps bring their A-game next week and crush them both physically and on the score sheet. Will have to see.
Canes aint winning a Cup with Fredrick Andersen in net! He has been injured or choked multiple times in big games in the playoffs!

Carbs was pretty cool in the presser. I like his demeanor. But he was clearly supporting his team for them getting nasty which i also love. Didn’t seem as concerned about the sleuthfoot but other things that happened before that. Must have been something in that Wilson pileup.

Brin is the biggest a-hole coach in NHL
You mean the guy who dropped this kernel of genius?
“That’s the unfortunate part of this is that we’re going to look back and everyone’s going to say you got swept and that’s not what happened,” after losing 4 games to 0. Yeah, f*** that guy.

This always happens when some assigned refs lose control of game. Better officiating would have more likely suppressed this game from becoming a power keg explosion!

Ovie goal makes everything feel better, but this team sure feels broken right now. Especially on the D side. Carbs needs to work some magic to get them back to early season form. They've had a few dips this year and always recovered, but nothing quite this deep.

My one solace is that a late season swoon can be OK for a contender. Remember the 09-10 Hawks? They were terrible in March.

Wildly dangerous move by Chatfield, CMM is lucky. Some canes fans can say whatever they want about the Caps escalating it but really nothing cheap happened prior to that.

Obviously, there's still plenty of work to be done, but it's good to see how quickly Leonard is adapting, even in comparison to yesterday. I was hoping he'd make it an easy to decision to keep him in the lineup, and thus far, he's done just that.

I really think the chase has been dogging them lately. Every arena they go into the crowd is buzzing for Ovi goals. Every interview is about Ovi and the record. I don't think late-season lulls are good in any way, but I am glad they got mad tonight. Fighting for each other with fisticuffs is at least fighting for each other. They are their best when they are playing for each other, and this can hopefully jumpstart some of that. Ultimately though, getting the record done will lift a weight and be source a pride all at once.

Completely missed this during the game but this clearly looks intentional. Saw it in a reply on twitter

Ahh, so that’s probably it. Carberry mentioned there were a couple of things over the line. I think there must have been something else as well. But yeah, i can see why Wilson and team would be pissed.

Yea, I wish this wasn’t happening right at the end of the season (their best in 7 yrs at that!). Otherwise, we could have just enjoyed this in like February and it would have been more fun.

Now, I just want to get it over with. I don’t want to wonder if they made the wrong read just to get it to Ovi. Heck, maybe Ovi doesn’t play all 2:00 of PPs once this is over. The chase has been a big part of the team’s identity post-COVID, so will be weird when it’s gone.

Hopefully he’ll bang it out in the next few games (Chicago 🤞), and they go back to team hockey and balance his minutes again. Also would like to see him and Carlson get some rest at the end.

Well. I'm lowering my expectations right now for the PO so I'm not disappointed.
If we look at the last 10 games records even the Pens are better than us and we're looking like a non PO team.
2nd round exit at best especially since we will certainly play against the Canes.

Fortunately we have Ovi to cheer on.
