Post-Game Talk: Capitals win game 1, lead series 1-0

Demidov should not have talked.

Woke the beast in Ovie.

You think his tongue is out like Jordan’s is a coincidence? Same mentality there, don’t give him fire

Yeah I though it was a hard crosscheck, but that's embarrassing..and he literally couldn't get up afterwords yikes!

It's either not an icing (if Laine touched it) and if he didn't touch it then it's a textbook interference that was just called against Guhle last game (hitting a guy who didn't have puck yet)

If Laine touched the puck, the icing call was wrong. If he didn't, then he was clearly interefered with.

Falling or not falling has no meaning here. You're missing the whole point

We might have to go with 5 lines.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Anderson - Dvorak - Gallagher
Laine - Evans - Heineman
Armia - Dvorak - Demidov
Caufield - Suzuki - Newhook

Double shift Suzuki & Dvorak up the middle. Move Newhook to wing. He seems to help open up ice for Caufield & Suzuki when he plays with them.

Line 4 isn't playing so great that they can't be broken up. Only the Suzuki & Dvorak lines are going, so you might as well mix up the 4th line & the 2nd line.

That last OT sequence reminded me of the OT loss against Carolina, where Michou had Lindsay at centre instead of Perreault at the dot. We lost the draw and bam! Lost the game.

This coaching staff was probably shitting bricks seeing who was on the ice for the FO.

Ahhh seeing those 3 names on 3 separate lines hit me like some lemonade on a hot day.

Only thing that comes to mind when thinking Carolina and playoffs, is the missed high stick on Koivu, and said player scoring the winner.

Well this does back up my claim from the thread that Carrier was the best Hab tonight. The parallel with Matheson is striking.

This is much worse than expected for Struble, who I thought was ultimately nothing special but not awful.
Would make sense to make the switch with Arber

Matheson was only terrible offensively. Defensively, he was on the positive side.

I think we can all agree that Matheson was awful in the offensive zone tonight. He bubbled every puck in offensive zone & either missed the net by 10 feet or hit the shins of a Caps player.

That play happens 300 times every game in the regular season and it has never been called, the habs do it too. The whole point is Laine has played almost a decade in the NHL, he played hard this game but his play there was baby soft.
