Oh no??

Jarret Stoll's getting better at broadcasting.

Game's over, we can like the Caps again.

At the end of the day, I'm rooting for them to win the cup just for Ovi.

And it's nice that Shattenkirk hasn't change. He still has the fragile Blues' mentality.

Both Kopitar and Kempe driving the middle of the ice. Both Kopitar and Lewis driving the front of the net on goals. Gaborik going to the net picking up a rebound. I guess everyone chose to ignore Sutter for this game. Supposed to stay glued to the boards.

Just hope efforts like that aren't wasted because of too many Vancouver type games.

suck it all you none-believers!

they're tired of Sutter's system are they?

no, they are doing the best with the roster they have

and they WILL take STL's spot

I will happily eat crow but it's a small miracle we hung in the game long enough to turn it around...but that team we saw with some moxie at the end there is a good confident sign, if THOSE guys show up nightly, we just might make something of this!

Rocky, you mentioned something about LaDue being offer-sheeted?

Can you please elaborate, and also explain how this can be avoided? Muchos gracias, sir

He will be an RFA after the season. If he's not resigned before then, other teams can negotiate and sign him--though if they do, we are entitled to picks as compensation. Also, we have the right to match the contract signed. They typically don't happen, but an RHD with that kind of poise and upside--I could see a team trying to put the screws to DL knowing our cap crunch and other RFAs (Pearson, Toffoli) like SJ was going to do with Jones.

If you were another team and you were watching LaDue right now--how much money would you offer him? No need for an actual response because I know that'll drag this down a rabbit hole we don't need to go to tonight, just a rhetorical question.

First time all year Caps have lost three in a row in regulation, too. So huge that we were able to break that force field.

Thanks, RJ. :)

Do you see any chance on God's green earth that we lose this youngster? Hell, as much as it hurts to say (due to the dead money), I'd cut Gabby just to keep him if it meant it free'd up the money needed.

i think the Kings would too. I don't see any way in hell we lose him unless someone wants to throw like 5+ at him--it's not just a price thing, you start getting compensated multiple high picks. Just saying if other people are seeing what we're seeing, he becomes a desireable asset, and one that you can use AGAINST the Kings management, much like Jones. People see LaDue's poise, skating, and ability to create/be slick right now, and have to see loads of potential as a #3--especially as RHD.

That Shattenkirk hit better get looked at by the league. That was cheap and unnecessary.

We've all seen 5 min major called for less, and it should've been more than 2 min, especially after drawing blood. The league will probably say he didn't mean to do like the Hedman hit and that's it...case close.

Lewis is also an UFA, so that'll free up some space. Gosh, I wish the cap would just go to 80mil and the league make a bunch of offensive-oriented changes just to up the revenue (ala what the NFL has done in recent years to produce a more offense-friendly product). All I saw was a change to the timeout-after-an-icing rule.

Doubt Ladue goes anywhere.. he's a beast

He ain't going nowhere...

Lewis is signed for a few more years. Were you thinking of King?

Just a month ago, those stupid rumors about 'Landeskog for Pearson and Ladue'
and Avs fans saying, wtf? they gotta throw in their #1 as well and...who is Ladue?

Not pro or con Mayor...and know he makes wrong calls, but he was pumping Ladue 2 full years ago. Good call there. I wonder how good he would be if he came out after his Junior Year and already had a year in Ontario.

Kudos to 'not ready yet' Kempe! Sick moves and shot. I like that he said "I should have had a goal by now". Stay hungry and expect more. Kempe seems to rise to the occasion.

How did the six D look tonight?

This is our ideal six D if we're favoring youth and puck movement, yeah?

I thought they were just OK. They all made their share of mistakes, especially the young guys trying to get it out the zone. Doughty and Forbort do not look good together right now, might be time to try and mix it up a little. They got pinned in several times tonight, and the goal against was atrocious. Forbort gets some benefit of the doubt, but Doughty was crap tonight outside of a few nifty plays and a nice hip check.

I thought Martinez had a strong game, and even though LaDue made a few glaring mistakes he was impressive overall. Muzzin was like a fricken teeter-totter, really solid or totally terrible. Gravel was up and down.

But they were still in line with expectations, that's a young D playing one of the top offensive teams in the league. Not a lot of shots allowed, but many were grade A opportunities.

The biggest problem I saw with our D tonight (which is an ongoing issue) was a lack of punishment. This team really misses guys like Greene/Mitchell/Regehr who would make guys pay for coming into the zone. I get that it's a soft lineup, but Muzzin and Doughty used to really bring the wood and they rarely do anything of the sort any more. Forbort hits, but it's more neutralizing, safe hits. I don't think it really matters if they make it in at this point, because this D isn't going to wear down anyone in a series.
