Between J Staal, Skylar Brind’Amour, Jackson Blake, etc., I’d say we have plenty of relatives today, yes.
You lose all credibility. Jason Blake had nothing to do with the cup win. Neither did Rob Blake, nor Blake Bortles, nor Blake Griffin, nor Robert Blake

I am right, you are wrong, you know nothing about hockey.

Necas should’ve been a Blue Jacket…

Damn you, Waddell

Necas for Demidov would've been debated for years. It became a moot point because Guentzel decided to go to Tampa instead of taking the Canes offer. In hindsight, Necas was the right guy to keep. I know he was disgruntled at the time, but success clearly heals wounds.

Just to put some numbers behind my comment that the Canes don't lose a lot of games like this in the past. Since Dundon/Brindy took over in 18-19 (462 games played - not a small sample size).

When leading after 2 periods the Canes record is: 194 - 8 - 15. That's the 5th best winning percentage in the NHL over this stretch.

When leading after 1 period, the Canes record is: 152-13-17. That is the 2nd best winning percentage in the NHL over this stretch.

The 6 seasons before Dundon/Brindy took over (458 games played)?
Leading after 2 periods: 123-13-19 (27th rank winning % in the NHL)
Leading after 1 period: 90-20-23 (28th rank winning % in the NHL).

Not only do the Dundon/Brindy version of the Canes hold onto leads better, they also have a lot more games where they lead after 1 period or 2 periods.

Okay, but what are their records in afternoon games? Or Sunday games?
Now you are moving the goal posts and really getting into small sample sizes. Even so, over the past 3 seasons, the Canes have played 28 Sunday games.

Sunday Record: 17-7-4 which is a 111 point pace on Sundays vs. an average of 113 points for 82 games for those 3 seasons combined. Essentially the same.

Final points for the season:
2023-24: 111 points
2022-23: 113 points
2021-22: 116 points

Essentially the same winning rate on Sundays as on any other day. Narratives are hard to break away from on the internet.

It would take way too much work to try and figure out when each game started but the sample sizes would be even smaller and less meaningful.
