I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, but if you haven't been to CapGeek.com there is now just this message:

Effective immediately, Jan. 3, 2015, CapGeek.com has permanently ceased operations. This sudden decision is made with a heavy heart and is due to the personal health of CapGeek.com founder and director Matthew Wuest. While this decision may raise many questions, it is requested that you respect Matthew's privacy and wish for no media or purchase inquiries. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding at this difficult time.

CapGeek was a massively valuable resource, and the competitor sites I vaguely remember from years back seem to have shut down as well (probably years ago).

So can anyone recommend alternative options? Does one even exist?

It's surprising he would choose to just kill the site instead of give stewardship of it to someone else.

IMO, It's likely due to his inability to just give his contacts info to whomever would buy the site. As far as I know that info isn't readily available, especially NTC's since he didn't even have all the info on all of the NTC/NMC's that he posted.

The part that bums me out is the armchair GM portion - that was such a fun tool to use and made cap balancing so much easier. I get that he wouldn't be able to update it, and in some aspects understand someone's pride and not wanting to see a site note get updated. Regardless, that tool in and of itself as a simple app was so invaluable, even just to have players contracts, terms, etc is great.

You can try this and select Jan 2nd. It's not perfect because if you select Dillon it still shows him as a Star.

Considering giving a crack at building at least the armchair GM section of cap geek as a side project. building the web app wouldn't be too difficult, still trying to figure out how I could source all the contract information though.

Best wishes to Matthew Wuest but with all due respect it's completely stupid to just close the site like that. Sure it might not be able to be updated but what was already there was a great resource for everyone else. Now another entrepreneur will swoop in with a new site and take everything they built from them.
