I don't think there's much to see here. Benning has a long list of players he's shopped around, at best he's able to trade the teams prospect for a guy like Markus Granlund or Matthew Highmore, but usually just nothing happens because these players simply don't have value around the league. Certainly it's possible someone swings a minor trade but if Juolevi is just likely to be on waivers if a team wants him why bother with a trade? And chances are mostly likely no one does and he simply clears waivers.

Rationalizing the Juolevi pick makes you feel like Benning was doing Treliving a solid for taking Mason McDonald over Demko.

The injuries he got, will he be able to recover from them fully, and if not why would anyone want to trade for him?

Juolevi for Lucas Johansen(both 2016 1sts).. bring Lujo back home to Vancouver

Both have struggled... give them a shot elsewhere

If we didnt have so many prospects in the ahl I would inquire about getting him for the kings ahl team. I have always been a fan of his. I think a year of being in a different system would be good for him. However we have to many prospects to make a move imo.

Kings could easily send someone like Durzi back. They have lots of prospects, but are thin on LD. See if he can get healthy at some point. Wouldn't be blocking anything of importance on the Left. Blake does like his reclamation projects.

I think every NHL team right now is trying to trade their 8th defenseman or 21st forward instead of waiving them… the problem is that no one wants to take a player back when they are trying to trim their own roster.

Some other possibilities,

1. Adam Brooks
2. Bellows or Dal Colle

Leafs need Brooks a lot more than they need Juolevi. They are not swimming in capable depth centers.

Correct. At most, players that clear waivers have a lot more value since they can now be used as eventual depth. Pre-waived players are not really valuable because of the reasons you listed.

So if and when Juolevi clears waivers, it's possible his value jumps a couple notches. I could see a couple teams with a need for him as a call-up from the AHL.

I honestly think Durzi has a shot I however wouldn't be upset to see Clague go I honest a one for one trade would do both players good

The pick was fine, no one could’ve possibly known Juolevi would be injured all the time, everytime he has been able to play without injuries he was good, if it wasn’t for the injuries he would be a good NHL’er at least.

We took 2 AHL fodder off your hands last year, you got some more of that?
If Mikheyev didn't go down with a long term injury last night, we'd have Adam Brooks or Pierre Engvall hitting the wire. Now it appears that both will make the team for now.

He was officially a bust last season. Now he’s cannon fodder. Next year he will be a bartender in some Finnish dive bar serving pickled fish and beer.

The time to trade him was when he was on an ELC imo.
I don't think anyone's eager to jump on a chance on him.
