Right, but just because it doesn't happen doesn't mean it isn't true. I'd wager 99% of potential deals discussed never materialize. The Canucks have probably talked to all the teams in the top 5 or 10 about the cost of moving up, but likely won't pull the trigger on any of them. Take it with a grain of salt but to say it's true because they say so/they're lying because it didn't happen is not accurate.
Well FWIW, when Marek brought up that the Canucks had interviewed Slaf, Elliote immediately went into speculation mode about the Canucks trading up for 2nd, he didn’t even hide that he was purely speculating. I just think the issue is, like a poster above mentioned, is that Friedman often blurs the lines between his speculation and when he’s reporting actual, truthful hockey talks. Often he’ll suggest when he’s purely speculating, like the interaction with Marek regarding Slaf, but sometime he’s ambiguous which can lead to a lot of people saying he’s just making stuff up, which he sort of is.
