We're still almost a month to the start of the season and he's on the ice.
It can't possibly be an 'out til Xmas' sort of thing.

Brisebois seems like the odd one out down there tbh. Especially considering a year ago he was considered to be in the fight for a bottom pair LD role.
Given he only played 8 games in April and then had to leave after the concussion symptoms returned, this seems to be a form of giving him light drills to see if he can still play.
I'm late but here's my recap of yesterday's press conference.
Allvin:
-Dakota Joshua, Teddy Blueger, Cole McWard, and Thatcher Demko will not participate in day 01 of training camp
-Blueger had minor surgery on his lower body and is a week away
-McWard had minor surgery on his lower body and is week-to-week
-Demko will address the media on day 01 of training camp
-won't make any further comments about Joshua at this time
Tocchet:
-really excited to get started
-last 10 days are the hardest for coaches and players because of how anxious they all are
-players asking lots of questions
Tocchet:
-made strides last year; asked players to make changes and they did; this season has higher expectations
Allvin:
-Demko requested to address the media himself so Allvin will not give any updates
-Demko is making progress and working extremely hard
Tocchet:
-wants to stress the transition game in the first two days of camp
-regroups, transition rushes, etc.
-have some faster players
-want to play a really fast brand
-were a pretty good rush team in the first half of last year but weren't as good in the second half
-with the guys we have, we need to play faster
Allvin:
-great opportunity for Blais
-Ferguson is a local goalie with pro experience; needed him to get to 6 goalies and was the strongest available
Rutherford:
-has a good chuckle at the question of a practice facility update
-no update
-have a few options that they are considering but not at the point where they are comfortable announcing anything
-have made headway
Rutherford:
-everything has to go right; challenges will be greater
-believes they have just as good a team to start this year and probably better
-still need match where the team was by the deadline and be a good enough team to contend
-will make decision on what adjustments need to be made in January & February
Tocchet:
-a lot of the guys have already completed the skating test
-for the most part, the players did really well
-going to work on powerplay a little bit earlier
-say players in rookie camp make strides from last year
-wants to see leaders, from first drill, take over; did a pretty good job last year
-not here to kill the guys; they are coaches and not drill sergeants
-there is a reason for each drill and practice
-players requested some things to work
-input from the Sedins, Svejkovsky, and Malhotra
Tocchet:
-Alriksson really impressed him and goes into some detail on his improvements along the wall
-calls Lekkerimaki a buzzsaw
-likes the way Pettersson played; calls him a smart guy
-looking for things that translation to main camp
Rutherford:
-whether a player says they care about their contract or not, they think about it
-Pettersson has worked really hard this summer and has done everything he can to play as a top-line player
-expectation is for him to be one of the top players on the team
Allvin:
-have training camp to see depth and young players take steps forward
-his job is to always keep his ears open to improve the roster
-as of right now, isn't focused on adding to any particular part of the roster
Tocchet:
-can't read too much into day 01 of training camp lines
-Miller and Boeser will play together
-Pettersson and DeBrusk will get time together
-it's okay to rotate wingers
-Garland and Joshua are hard to break up
Allvin:
-Poolman is not going to play this season
-have different options to utilize Poolman's contract to not fit him into LTIR starting the season
-will see over the next couple of weeks if anything changes
-have options of not being in off-season LTIR
Tocchet:
-team was consistent because if they lost a game, didn't see the leaders getting frustrated like the year before
-practice habits have got way better
-accountability drives success
Tocchet:
-Suter is a centre for them
-need Suter's up-the-middle hockey IQ
-speaks to the luxury of having hybrid players (can play centre or wing)
Rutherford:
-coaches like to go on so many games on a road trip
-haven't done an analysis on their schedule but knows their travel is cut down again
Allvin:
-important to have competition throughout the organization
-relationship with Kalamazoo has worked really well
-Malhotra has done a tremendous job in a short period of time
-Komisarek and Samuelsson have been great
Tocchet:
-no getting the puck to the middle enough and only have a certain chunk of players driving to the middle
-wants to see the defencemen up in the play a little bit more
-break-outs are really good but even if they are ahead of the other team, they catch up; believes they play too safe and are content at chipping the puck in
-more weak side play and is on him to give them a playbook

I wonder how often teams plant "fake injury" stories to get a gauge on the trade market. Not saying that's what happened, but it's good to see Demko doing drills here.
They just had to put both EPs in the same group, didn't they...
Seriously though, it's good to see D-Petey, Kudryavtsev and Lekk with a group of pretty established players.

Still think that Joshua and Garland flanking EP is a totally viable option. Especially if the EP/DeBrusk thing isn't seamless and DeBrusk looks good with Miller. Heinen, Suter, and Hoglander on a third line is pretty good too.
I think it makes for a potentially extremely strong top-6 but significantly weakens the strength of the bottom-6 unless some of those guys can find another gear. However, if Pettersson can't be a play driver then I don't know if they have much choice.
I can’t see it as a long term end game option but I can see it for a game or shifts here and there. Those two on the third line tilt our matchups way too much. Fingers crossed DeBrusk clicks with Petey, Petey wakes up, and we unlock 3 elite lines
