Obviously, do not "keep everyone no matter the cost," but other than that, most of the choices here look reasonable, given the context.

It would be very unpopular in here and in the Canucks locker room but if a team gave up something similar to what TB gave up for Tanner Jeannot, I would trade Kiefer Sherwood. He's coming back to normal but playoff time and his salary he's still got lots of value.

Cal Foote
2023 3rd round pick
2023 4th round pick
2023 5th round pick
2024 2nd round pick
2025 1st round pick

That was insane but if a team offered a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year. I'd take it.

I disagree with trading Sherwood. I don't think you're getting a haul like Jeannot.

Regardless of what your plan is you want players like Sherwood around.

Wholesale teardown: keep a guy like him to work hard, set the tone for new players, keep the culture.

Quick turnaround: Sherwood will keep things entertaining after selling and then pay dividends in the playoffs.

Once you trade Sherwood you immediately begin searching for Sherwood.

At a minimum, Boeser has to be gone by the deadline. It would be madness to keep him through the season.

If they can find a taker for Demko, ship him out too.

Personally, I would trade Garland too.

Soucy and Myers (God willing) for sure.

Does Hoglander have any value left?

In general, I would be trading just about anyone with value besides Hughes, all the Petterssons, Hronek, DeBrusk, Chytil, DOC and the prospects. Bring in some assets and create some cap space for this summer.

This team needs to extend Suter. He is the most solid and reliable bottom 6 guy this team has. It would be a huge loss and create a giant hole in the roster.

Edit: also the thought of moving Sherwood is absolutely insane

This poll is inherently flawed as well. "Fix the long term issues", "fill the core", "plan for 3-4 years in the future", "trade for future assets" is all under the same umbrella.

It's more of a creative exercise
I tried to allow for individual ideas rather than just do the thinking for everyone by limiting the extent of their ideas.
Polls often dictate what people think by limiting choices then publishing them as "This is what the people want" when the choices were one of three possibilities.

Health
Crime
Education
Economy

Pick one, what is your real choice is Accountability or Carbon tax.
Those get dropped as issues.

Just saying a larger wider poll allows for more freedom of difference of degree of a choice.

My expectations

1. Boeser will be traded. As much as Canucks media is stirring the pot and trying to create PTSD from the Benning do nothing years, this management team is not scared to make a move. Boeser is not fast, they don't value him where the market will, he won't sign for that reason, so they will move him. Tired of Drance and team trying to create anxiety in fans minds. I guess that sells

2. Suter, high value for a playoff team. Excellent Utility player, a center, smart defensively, great on the PK and can play up and down your lineup. Teams who are close will love a player like him, or teams who need to Bolster their 3/4c position. Colorado, Toronto, LA, CBJ come to mind. Traded

3. Soucy - Traded

4. Forbort - Traded

Suter is great at $1.6M on the short term contract. In fact it's a steal.
That said, I would not sign him for the value of his previous contract 2x$3.25M. I'm guessing he will be looking for at least that as a UFA. He will get that from someone. I just think the team needs to pool all the money they have under the cap to bring in higher end players.

Suter is probably looking for some term but I think giving him Heinen/O'Connor deal matches management's MO and is what I would sign him +/-
