I wasn’t. Defensive DMen don’t make cake like Hughes/Makar/Bouchard do.Great extension. I was expecting a lot more $$$ considering the rising cap. Also happy it's not 7 or 8 years

This is a market that valued a career 4/5 LHD at 5m x 6I wasn’t. Defensive DMen don’t make cake like Hughes/Makar/Bouchard do.
I think what I have learned with this management team that the team has no problem moving cap space out if it becomes a burden. I am not worried at all about it.I agree with everyone that this looks like an excellent deal. But we do need to acknowledge the risk of significant decline given Pettersson’s age.
Blind twice sounds not good.Marcus, blind twice if you are being threatened into signing this beautiful contract.
Agreed. Hate the 6th yearI agree with everyone that this looks like an excellent deal. But we do need to acknowledge the risk of significant decline given Pettersson’s age.
This is an awesome signing to get a tanev replacement, that’s money we would have signed tanev for years ago without a rising cap…. Plus flexibility to trade him if his performance falls off a cliff in years to come. You a Juleson lover?I wasn’t. Defensive DMen don’t make cake like Hughes/Makar/Bouchard do.
He'll be younger than Myers is now, in a world where the cap is going up 15-20M+ in the immediate future and only has a 15 team NTC in the back half.I agree with everyone that this looks like an excellent deal. But we do need to acknowledge the risk of significant decline given Pettersson’s age.
Honestly, who cares by that point. Either the world's gone, or the cap's gone up to something like 200 million.Agreed. Hate the 6th year
Oh ya, don’t get me wrong, I am happy with the deal. My point is that he will be 29 to start the contract and it isn’t uncommon for players to see a significant drop off in their play as they enter their thirties. Not saying it will happen here, or even trying to quantify the risk, but there is a risk. He'll be younger than Myers is now, in a world where the cap is going up 15-20M+ in the immeidate future and only has a 15 team NTC in the back half.
There is a reasonable amount of risk and flexibility for the immediate gains and value he brings for the length of Quinn's current contract. Given the circumstance, 5.5x6 might be better than 6.5x5 of 7x4.
