Yep. The guy is 29 yeas old, which is relatively young for a goaltender, so if we're lucky, he takes his game to another level. Probly not though. Still, he's been a .912 goaltender the last 2 years, so this seems like a very good value signing.

As long as Demko is injured: it will probably be Lankinen/Silovs 1A/1B

But once Demko is back, it will probably be Demko/Lankinen with Silovs going up and down to the AHL as waiver exempt to get starts in.

good for the team but must be disappointing for Silov's waiver ineligibility to loom and Lankinen for getting ground down to league minimum like that.

I'm actually interested in seeing how they run this if Demko is out to start the season. It is not hard to argue Lankinen should be the starter based on experience.

An excellent signing money and term. Canucks get a bona-fide NHL backup who will fill in nicely until Demko recovers from whatever is ailing him. $875,000 is a steal of a deal. Canucks have excellent depth in goal now.

Bravo Alvin once again.

The worst part of CapFriendly going away is there’s no way to easily check how many games a player has left of waiver exemption.

Why do you think, and it’s been over multiple threads, it would be so cheap?
because 1. hes injured 2.he hasnt played in awhile just sitting on the sidelines collecting a paycheque. no team is giving up a 4th 5th for him. the 2013 fifth round draft pick has been limited to 43 games with the Canucks, with all but three appearances coming during his first season in Vancouver, in 2020-21. He is now entering the final season of the four-year, $10 million deal he signed with the team.

Absolutely love this signing and gives Silovs well needed rest in back to back matchups , and allows Demko to have the time he needs to recover

Chef Allvin is at it again

This is not the direction I thought this post would go.

The Canucks will have to include a draft pick as a sweetener to have another team do them the favor of getting his contract off the books. Nobody is expecting the Canucks to get a positive return for the privilege of paying a guy to stay home.

great signing. my biggest worry about this year was demko missing substantial time and silovs/patera costing the team wins
