Try living amongst the Dutch during covid. See how much their self interest and yours align.

See how your opinion of someone changes when they are covid positive, pre vaccine, and come and take off their mask to talk to you at 0.5m away because "their voice is muffled". Many times over.

See how your opinion of a country changes when you hear multiple people remark how the escalation of the Ukranian-Russian war and hosting of Ukraine refugees is a "good thing" because "Ukranians are good workers".

Tell me how you would feel when you see people commenting in public that the reason we have rats and seagulls in cities is because Muslims are feeding them food that cannot be eaten otherwise.

Tell me how you feel when a city instrumental to the slave trade and atrocities of the Dutch East India company refuses to issue an apology for slavery.

And how would you feel if more than 50% the population of a country that was built on the backs of coercion, violence, slavery, intimidation, and economic exploitation thinks they should not issue an apology for slavery in 2024? I liked every Dutch person I ever met, which was several hundred, before I moved to the Netherlands. Safe to say that impression presented by individual/small group of Dutch abroad vs behaviour of Dutch in the Netherlands is a vastly different story. My impression of Dutch society has been greatly downgraded since living in it.

Amsterdam is a cool city, but it's also not the entirety of the Netherlands, believe it or not.

I'm also well aware of when Sprong moved to Canada. You form a lot of life-long habits from your associations and nature/nurture in the first 8 years of your life.

I hope he succeeds, but I expect to see relatively constant offensive effort and decent progressing to lazy defensive effort every 10 games followed by a scratch or other 'message-sending' event.

Im Dutch. Your observations don't surprise me at all. The Dutch are hard asses. Maybe the biggest hard asses in Europe. Thats just the way it is.

As for Sprong, I hope his speed makes up for the Kuzmenko in him.

It's quite telling that you equate both conscious and unconscious assholery with being a hardass.

I hope Sprong succeeds, but like others have pointed out, he's a player that looks like he was built by sliding the 'skill' sections to max and then filling in all the other attributes with whatever is left over.

There are two things jd22 can't stand in this world:
1 - People who are intolerant of other people's cultures.
2 - the Dutch.

You might think that the disparity between different Dutch people he experienced would have taught him to not lump them all together by nationality but no, by age 8 poor Daniel Sprong was doomed to a life of false-superiority.

Had young Daniel been liberated as a baby or a 2 year old, might he have made it or is Dutch simply a contagion of the blood? Should we be concerned he might infect the Canucks good Canadiens boys or fair-haired Swedes with his Netherculture?

Are there other nationalities of players that our team would do better to avoid?

Im half Dutch and the guy your quoting basically goes on a racist rant in two separate posts and has the nerve to be an immigrant in that country and feels he's aloud to comment on their stance on immigration, especially from certain countries. Yet if I post any opinions on the detriment of allowing immigration from countries where people not only refuse to try to fit in the country that took them in, many outright refuse and attempt to force their ways and beliefs. If a certain type of demographic points out that studies overwhelmingly point to immigration from certain countries had been an absolute disaster your deemed a racist but this guy gets away with it because being racist towards white people is now completely acceptable.

Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands , Denmark, Sweden,Poland, Hungary, Germany, Italy, soon to be the USA and many others, have or are in the process of a major shift not because they are racist but because they've watched their countries deteriorate because millions of people came in and tried to change the country instead of trying to embrace western culture. When in Rome as they say.

It's ok to hold on to your beliefs but it's not ok to force others to adapt to your ways, that shit wouldn't fly going the other way

Places like Belgium and the Netherlands have had entire parts of their countries completely taken over to the point some communities are trying to literally impose Sharia law.
