forbort is awful. he was decent prior to his injuries but he's a shell of what he was

still need a LD for the third pair (or better, second) imo

The value is ok but the issue here is that we’re replacing two guys in Cole and Zadorov who could play top-4 minutes and Forbort is basically a pure 3rd pairing guy and a LH Juulsen.

Injury history also concerning.
Cole was not good, he really disappointed me. Have no idea if Forbort will do well but aside from Cole every dman improved under our coaches and system.
Is breeze healthy? Also I think EP2 is closer than people think.
We also have 3+ million left with 23 man roster. Hopefully Soucy stays healthy tho because admittedly until EP2 is hopefully making us forget all about Zadorov that left side is hinging on Soucy staying healthy and internal improvements from Hirose, Breezer, etc if Forbort sucks.

Great deal given some of the silly contracts going to depth defenders today. Should replace Cole well at half the price. But this can’t be the biggest add on defence if the team wants to be better next year.

This Canucks team was pretty unprecidently healthy last season. The most important player that they lost was Demko, which did suck. But for skaters, they only really had Soucy, Joshua, Di Guiseppe, Blueger, and Suter injured. Lindholm missed 7 games, but I think that was more to shut him down to have him recover fully for the playoffs.

If D-EP does break into the team, contracts like these won't necessarily hurt development. Keep in mind, D-EP is only 20 years old and has played a grand total of 9 games in North America. It's pretty rare these days to have defensive prospects break into the league that early.

There were only 5 defensemen aged 20 or younger who played more than 30 regular season games in the league last season. If D-EP is really going to elevate himself to a top prospect, he'll get his licks in the NHL. But for now, let him have a season on the farm.

Yea I feel like if they run Forbort as 3LD, they need to improve on Juulsen on the right side still and have someone who can play top 4 minutes at times on that pairing and/or move Myers down. Of course they could always do that with an in-season trade like with Zadorov

He’s going to be the new Gudbranson and frustrate Canucks fans. Hope he doesn’t get used like Cole was last season. He would be a major downgrade.

What a let down. Not sure he's an improvement over Ian Cole let alone big z. His low end contract still feels like an overpayment based on what I've seen from him

He was top of their defensive list heading into the morning considering the cap situation, so they must see something.

Very low end NHL player. Type of player you hope will be adequate enough to get through a game and not hurt you . Don't expect much of anything in a positive way but do expect some real problems when he faces talented players. Needs to be spotted into a game carefully. Carried by the highly defensive game system Boston uses in the last while.

Big problem is obviously his lack of mobility (comparable to Juulsen and honestly might be worse) Makes his zone of coverage small and hurts him being able to skate puck out of his end or through the neutral zone. And this has been proven on the numerous teams he has played on and is one of the reasons teams move him on.

Points been made a number of times but why couldn't the team have used money for Forbert to keep Zadorov. Z is infinitely better. Don't get it.

He’s fine as a 3rd pairing PK specialist who provides nothing but physicality and getting the puck off the glass. In order for this to work, they’ll need to find him a better partner than Myers or Juulsen.

Forbort-Myers would be a fine 3rd pairing.

We need someone to bump one of Soucy/Myers out of the top 4.

On the other hand ... one could argue that the blueline today is better than either of the bluelines that played in the cup final. It's even better than any of the bluelines Rutherford won the Cup with. So there is that.

If Gudbranson was only drawing a 1.5 million salary on a one year deal (as well as signed as a free agent vs giving up assets to obtain him), I'd think the derision wouldn't nearly be as great.

Forbort-Myers would be a fine 3rd pairing.

If we can get the 100 point regular season version of EP in the post-season, we could probably live with even Pizza Sbisa on the blueline.

I remember when a game where he was playing with Drew Doughty. Forbort is carrying the puck back into the zone for whatever reason, he actually takes a look at an Avs player and dishes a sweet pass to him for a goal against. I vividly remember the camera panning to Doughty who could be seen going all "WTF?"

Injuries aside...This guy is a flat out moron on the ice. I just don't understand how medicore depth guys like this continue to be in the NHL.

Haven't had a chance to weigh in on this one yet with all of the other chaos from the day but I'm not a really big fan of this signing. I view him as a borderline 6/7 who'll be in and out of the lineup depending on the matchup likely subbing with Juulsen. If he can kill penalties though at least he'll serve some use for a limited period of time but I think we definitely need to upgrade the 6th D spot before the playoffs. I'm fine with Desharnais as our every night #5
