Solid signing and a guy who clearly wanted to be here. He held Myers hand for a good ten games. Though credit to TM other than a couple stinkers early on he’s been pretty good. I laugh at the video game guys that say he isn’t an NHL player- replacement level. Out to lunch.

Back to Carson. Solid 4/5 d man who was fitting in like a glove before he got hurt.

He also did the impossible that not even Hughes could do and seem to have fixed Myers. That pair actually worked really well together.

Conversely, Cole looked great with Friedman but just seems off when playing with Myers, which is what seems to happen to most guys.
Yeah it's funny. For a team that is as shallow and flawed on defence as the Canucks are, they managed to build a really effective 6 man unit that just works. They still need to upgrade but for the moment I'm actually quite comfortable with Hughes-Hronek, Cole-Friedman, Soucy-Myers.

Like the player, fair market value contract, no savings though. Bye bye Myers.

Subtracting OEL and replacing him with Cole and Soucy is some nice work.

Ian Cole has been surprisingly solid, smart tough veteran that plays a simple effective game.

He also single handedly makes Myers viable in the playoffs. The game he was suspended, Myers started doing dumb pinches and other boneheaded moves again. IMO he would have regressed further if Soucy was out for more time.
