Rumor: Canucks: Should I stay or should I go? Pete stays and Miller goes!

Definitely not thrilled with the rumoured returns but I guess that's what we have to expect from a NMC player that's basically now known to be a jerk as a teammate. My god, if its Drury and JK, or Chytil and Lindgren, those are just dreadful returns for a 100 point centre.

Carolina really makes a ton of sense as a destination. A team that has been good for a long time, but unable to take the next step with a clear hole at centre. This is a chance to get an elite player at a discount, and its worth the potential risk of him being a jerk to his teammates.

Carolina is already a " Bunch of Jerks" so perfect fit for JT.

As a Canes fan saying this knowing it won’t have any impact on real world negotiations, Kotkaniemi sucks. People will say he’s a defensively responsible guy who is capable at face offs and will be serviceable as a 3C, or that he’s a u25 player who still has time on his side to develop and bloom. Fact of the matter is he just doesn’t have it and if a deal gets done where he’s the center piece coming back for moving on from Miller, Nucks fans need to pray the rest of the deal makes up for it.

this one would have to imagine might be as good as it gets (might not be Morrow though)
don't think it would be Morrow either from the Canes or Canucks perspective (Canes need OFD and Nucks don't overly need one in their system ATM) - Forsmark and Heimosalmi are probably the next most interesting pieces on D and (obv. other than Nikishin) the closest to making it to the show.

I agree with biz on this one, unless there is a team that is serious then the same deal or more will be there in the offseason. Some of these proposals are based off the nuclear option if they need to move JT yesterday which I don't believe is the case.

I don't think you're getting a better offer as time goes on. Everybody knows the situation and it's only resolving one way.

Sometimes, all waiting until the offseason gets you is a greater quantity of the same offer.

That really isn't how markets work. By nature, more offers = increased competition = higher offers. It's why guys that say they only want to go to one place generally go cheap.

Miller appears to be open to quite a few teams so far.

Floated this on the Canes board.

To Carolina
Miller (no retention)

To Vancouver
Kotkaniemi
Roslovic
Suzuki
pick (2nd, 1st is possible with an add from Van)

Suzuki is a very good prospect, will likely get NHL time in the very near future, but just for some reason hasn't been able to crack the code here in Raleigh.

Glad Allvin told Dury to shove it........seriously we are taking a guy your board hates on an expiring deal and getting a guy who's one hard sneeze away from LTIR and a mid to most likely late round first for a superstar who's on an affordable deal now and you want us to retain? DUMMY EFF OFF............

I'd much rather keep him and tell the locker room this is the way it is (or have JTM open up more teams) rather than go for an offer like that. Drury you dum dum.......

Suzuki is not a very good prospect. Everyone has a Suzuki. Hes 5 years removed from the draft and cant even sniff PPG in the AHL. Hes a worse prospect than undrafted Arshdeep Bains.

Kotkaniemi is also a cap dump.

Roslovic is a UFA who almost certainly wont sign in Canada.

Thats an absurd offer.

Starts with a 1st and a good prospect (Like Nadeau or Morrow).

Not enough I’d say, Suzuki is meh. He’s almost 6yrs removed from his draft year and still hasn’t played an NHL game.

If Miller to the Canes is a possibility, my guess would be Kotkaniemi + Roslovic + one of this year’s 1st/Nadeau/Unger Sorum/Morrow. I doubt they’d deal Morrow, but think he’s at the level of prospect that would move the needle.

If the Canucks were interested in a rebuild this trade would of been completed already, this management group is looking for roster players and the prospects and picks would most likely be used to get other roster players.
