Rumor: Canucks: Should I stay or should I go? Pete stays and Miller goes!

I would say Sykora is a B level prospect. Good potential and on a 40 point pace in the AHL and is only 20 and being playing pro since he was 16.

Chmelar is more a C prospect. Nothing really special about him but good work ethic

Yeah if that's the case you would have to think that there's a bit more value coming from somewhere.......Chytil makes a lot of sense...........him and some AHL fodder you would think wouldn't quite make it happen unless Miller has only stated he's willing to go to the Rangers and the Nucks are that desperate to get rid of him............who knows however at this point I would still have to think there is more coming back then that.

I’d assume, with that as the return, a pick or picks would also be included

Hasn’t Vancouver made overtures about trading both of them prior to contract extensions? If they weren’t happy with the market in the past couple of years it’s unlikely they will be happy with the offers now. Unless they want to blow it up and go full rebuild just keep them and find some way to get them to live with each other and not wreck the locker room.

I don't think he gets moved but calling him a 70-80 point player is a bit misleading.
He's like top 10 in scoring since joining the nucks.

This has been a tough season for us nuck fans but at the end of the day we are a point out of the playoffs despite not icing a full lineup once this season and two games with our 5 best players.

Demko should only get better and if the team can build off Saturday's win there is zero reason to trade a legit 1C, especially for a shit package.

I doubt stars fans feel the need unload Robertson for a loss despite a poor season by his standards with the only difference being the absolutely shit media causing shit here.

Vancouver fans keep talking about how he is top X in scoring over the last 5 years. I do think that it’s a bit misleading. He has been closer to Zibby and Schieffle over the past few seasons than top 10. What he did at 27 has less bearing at his part of the aging curve.

Are any of those prospects higher than a B or B+ type prospect?
No, that package is a middle 6 center (Probably more of a #2c when healthy and fully going), and a bottom 6 hustling, defensive minded prospect in Sykora. Maybe a B or B- prospect, based on likeliness to reach the expectations. I'm sure Vancouver would prefer Othmann here as the prospect, but Chytil at least can fill an open C role when healthy. None of these players are going to be a high end first line talent. The offer would obviously need something else added to it.

This stuff is always funny coming from fans of teams that have been gifted generational talents. Once Crosby retires maybe the Pens will actually have to build a team like everyone else.

Okay? I don't see how this has any relevance to the Canucks being a mess right now.

The amount of drama around the Canucks this year is only passed by the amount of drama around the Rangers. Apparently all of Miller, Pettersson, Demko and Boeser are either upset with the team or are being considered trade bait. Their coach is having issues with numerous players, namely Miller and Hoglander. The GM is publicly calling guys out to the media. Frankly the only piece that doesn't seem like a mess right now is Hughes, who's having a historically good season.

But yes, the Penguins being gifted Crosby 20 years ago totally means that I can't comment on the mess the Canucks seem to be right now. I guess if that makes you feel better about your team, you do you.

Yeah I would assume draft capital ........a 1st or 2 2nd's? Maybe another roster player to help even out the cap?

At this time I would not really be opposed to this on the condition that we flip that draft capital for a top 4LHD or some help up front. Hard to love this return at this point as we are trading the best player here but it is what it is...........

I’m thinking Vancouver would want Chytill over Lafreniere, wouldn’t they? And the Rangers should be rebuilding; they shouldn’t be trading for older players.

Yes I can't see the Nucks trading Miller without a C coming back. Chytil makes the most sense here imo along with draft capital.

former Stars beat writer throwing this out to the universe this morning

Honestly something around Hintz for Miller straight up is a deal I could see making a lot of sense. Hintz is having a down year as well and hasn't really reached his 2021-2023 form since his extension kicked in. The cap hits are effectively the same, while Hintz is a couple of years younger and has a couple extra years left on his deal.

I would imagine Dallas would be adding to that deal but I'm curious what would need to be included to close out the value there.

They don't get high rankings on prospect websites but they're both 1000% the guys winning teams have.

Sykora a buzzsaw hardwork overachiever 15-15-30 type. Chemlar more a bottom 6 nasty-in-his-soul big body, not a performative fighter. Kinda like one of those bottom sixers from the Cup winning Kings teams.

I think both are much more likely longterm future NHLers than your typical "he scores or he sucks" top 6 candidate who may grade out higher.

Dallas won't trade Hintz, would piss off Heiskanen/Lindell.

Miller was 9th in scoring last season with 103 points. What are you talking about?

I mean if Dallas would be getting the better player (which IMO Miller is, at least by a bit), I would think it would be a mistake to not make a deal because of the Stars Finnish club might get upset :dunno:

I really like Hintz as a player, but that extra offensive punch Miller can offer could be the difference between a cup win and a conference finals loss.

Rangers have Igor , Panarin and Fox so retool yes they won’t tear it down

Here is the thing, this is real life not NHL 25. Dressing room dynamics and team make up are an important factor.. so on paper your reasoning makes sense and I agree but in real life it won't happen. Jim Nill will not make that trade.

The entire reason these guys are available is because of the dynamics of players/issues.. so why would a GM go out to create an issue for his own team?
