Prospect Info: Canucks select D Elias Pettersson , 3rd Round, 80th Overall, 2022

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
It might be closer to top-10.

You wouldn't even think of trading him for Nemec/Jiricek/Korchinski who went 2-6-7 in that draft.
Top 10 would suggest he is a future top pairing d man. I hope that’s what other GM’s are thinking, because if we want a forward group that is elite and can compete for a Cup, we need to trade either Pettersson or Willander. It has to be done. Our defence is still good with Hughes, Hronek, Willander, and Marcus. Actually those 4 make a better than average defence group. A top 2 man is worth a lot these days.

2022 draft is pretty shit so far.

Slaf
Cooley
Wright
Gauthier
Kasper
Mintyukov
Mateychuk
Nazar
Kulich
Bichsel

are really the ones trending really well in the NHL from the 1st round.

There are a bunch of kids that are coming along slowly but if you rank how they are doing based the on value of D/C >>>>> Wings, the only D and C doing well so far are Wright, Cooley, Kasper, Mintyukov, Mateychuk, Nazar, Bichsel, Hutson, Poitras. Don't watch enough to have any idea how Casey, Luneau, Lamoureux are doing.

How do you solve our problem of a top line C? We have a strength at D now, so that gives us some options.
I think the elephant in the room is trading Hughes for Stutzle. And running the other 4 legit defenseman we should have.

I'm not saying we should do it, I'm just saying that's the elephant in the room

I do believe Edler had enjoyed a higher profile before joining vancouver. EP(D) seemed to have came from nowhere, overshadowed by Willander and Lekk. Three Swedes coming up at once.... Instead of the Russian 5, we have a Swedish trio, plus EP..... And MP?

It's within reason
Some posters here did suggest that he had passed Lek in our prospect rankings when he was playing regular shifts in the SHL while Lek was struggling in the Allsvenskan.

Räty should also be able to net 80-90 points playing behind Pettersson so do we really need to trade anyone?

Bright spot of the season. Our top 5 d is set for next year, which takes pressure off of Willander

Hughes
Hronek
MPetey
DPetey
Myers

Fixing the offense will be all the focus of management this off season after a cursed season

Luneau lost a year of development, but got better this year, Ducks blue line is ultra crowded, hes stuck in no man's land.
Casey is doing very well and has also leapfrogged Nemec in Jersey. I think he is solidly top 10 in a redraft also.
Lamoureaux was also injured much last year, and had mono. 6'7 guys need more time.

interested to know who will go higher in a redraft, Casey or EP25? not many is aware about EP25 in the main boards though, we will see his star rise in another year or 2.

DPetey would need to put up points for the rest of the hockey fans to really notice him or he needs to be like crushing people like every other shift then the other fans will probably be asking who the f*** is this kid killing people.
