I don’t want to get ahead of myself as I always thought he was the type of prospect fans get excited about but who usually doesn’t end up being an impact player, but while I’m sure there will be up and downs, I don’t think 20 year olds with a few games of experience who stand out like he has don’t at least become regular NHLers right? Like even on Juulsen’s best day, he didn’t look like that.

Anyone is moveable even if they have a nmc. If Dpetey grows to a point where he is a legit 2nd pair anchor then you figure out what to do with MP then. There will always be a market for top4D and yeah there might be 2 more expansion draft so you might as well hoarde as many top4 D right now because we can’t protect them all.
With any young Dman, nothing is set in stone. B. Schneider in NY looked great as a rookie. Seems to have plateaued since.

No, barring something drastic and totally unforeseen (severe injury, severe personal/off-ice issues) to cause a major regression this is an NHL player.

Even if he never improves another iota from what he is now, a 6'4 D who knocks bodies around and has solid skating and decent puck skills and can get by defensively in 14-15 minutes/game is an NHL player, like a Lyubushkin or whatever.

Only question now is how good he can be. Top pairing guy doesn't seem out of the question, and that's a totally out-of-left-field potential outcome.

I think most here would hope for a 2nd pairing 20-22 minute a game guy if he continues to develop.
Worst case, 3rd pairing.

Mancini, I just hope for 3rd pairing 15 minute a game. Not holding out hope for a 20 minute 2nd pairing guy.

Havelid his coach in 2023

Said it refreshing to see a throwback defenceman who understands angle’s and leverage in their physicality.

I’ll bet it was a debate in the Lindholm trade amongst him and Hunter Bruz

The thing that pissed me off about Hunter was he would give up possession like a ton on puck retrievals which is a huge red flag
But those who watched him said it was because of his Ice Time which I didn’t believe for a minute. Just go over to his old thread.

Looks like they made the right decision on the choice of prospect

yeah that's also why you want to keep those guys so when the expansion draft rolls around, you can choose which ones to expose.

both outcomes are great for a 3rd rounder. let's hope Mynio, KK and Manici hits as well.

I have to conclude that this kid is extremely intelligent. How can you go from Allvansken to the AHL for half a year, then NHL in less than 2 years total? He won’t maintain that trajectory I presume, but you have to think his game is still going to improve quite a bit over the next few seasons. His trajectory suggests a top 2 or 3 d man. I can’t say #1 because he doesn’t have that offensive skillset, but who knows, he is obviously a very fast learner.
