Smooth skating and smart. Good positional play. Knew when to join the rush and knew when to get back.

If he works with a skating coach and can increase his speed 1 more level you have a very nice player. The management should really work on developing this player and invest in him.

Id love to see him become a Adam Larsson or Cernak type of player. Much needed on our team

if we have a goal scored by a Petterson and assisted by two other Pettersons, how do we count that unique point?
1/3 a point for each. No wait....more like 0.5 for the goal scorer, 0.35 for the primary assist and 0.15 for the secondary assist. And the guy with the secondary should be happy with that because as we all know they don't matter.

In 2022, when the Canucks drafted Elias Pettersson (V.2), Elias Pettersson (V.1) was coming off a 102 point season…

…how many of us would have thought it would be possible that EP (V.2) could have a greater on ice impact than EP (V.1) for even one night only 2 seasons down the road?

He went from being a meme draft pick to someone who looks like he could be a significant player for us, and much sooner than most anyone would have ever thought possible.

Wasn't sheltered.
“…where Pettersson’s usage had been curbed and protected in his previous outings, on Sunday he seemed to have earned some trust and a longer leash from Adam Foote, who had Pettersson log nearly seven minutes head-to-head against the Patrick Kane line. Vancouver outshot Detroit 7-0 in those minutes.”

Posted in the other thread about how impressed I am with his mobility and his puck moving, I really didn't expect him to have a big shot too. He hasn't had much time and space to get it off but he's got a heavy shot.

Lots to be excited about here

Rick Tocchet loves his veteran players. So inserting a 20-year old Elias Pettersson II into the lineup on the back-end, with so much at stake right now, must be giving the coach butterflies. But it's surely a testament to his massive rise as a prospect.

Hard to believe watching him, that he's only been on the smaller NA ice for half a season. But you can see now, why AHL-watchers picked him as the Abbotsford Canucks all-star representative.

Can you imagine how good he'll be when he's 23 and with three years of NA pro hockey under his belt? I think it might be OK for Canuck fans to be legitimately excited by what's next.

Wasn't sheltered.
He wasn't but Detroit played the classic road games, bent but didn't break.

I really like his composure and think we might have a decent player here but it's hard to tell what his ceiling or eventual place is but even as a bottom pairing guy he is an upgrade on whet we were throwing out there before.

These last two games especially are most pleasing. I thought that he would need more a little time in Abbotsford to work on his plays with the puck before becoming a regular in the NHL, but he seems to be managing it just fine so far. I'm not surprised that the pure defending aspect has been NHL-calibre; he was rock-steady in that regard in Abbotsford.
