Will be a throw in piece in the next Canucks trade.
Not likely.

The Canucks don't own his signing rights anymore -- they expired -- and they have nothing to trade.

I can't imagine the Canucks would be trading for his rights, either, at this point.

It's entirely possible that the Canucks would not have signed this player anyway.

I don't know anything about him, except that there doesn't appear to be much interest from any other team in signing him, either.

Not an NHL talent. He will get signed as one of those older college guys but will be in the AHL. Then will disappear.

He might have proactively announced that he would test free agency because his agent knew that the Canucks would not be offering him a contract anyway.

Just another unsigned draft pick, and much ado about nothing?
