Haven’t watched that much Florida but would like to see them win the cup because they have some connection to the Canucks with Luongo and pretty long trade history.

Miller & Boeser to Florida
Bennett, Tippet and a 1St to Canucks

Could retain on Miller for next year for an additional 2nd

Not only is this a terrible trade for Vancouver, Panthers management were the ones to convince Luongo to retire instead of LTIR'ing it for the rest of the contract to save them money, sticking us with the $3m cap charge the last 3 years. We don't owe them any favors. I liked Luongo when he was here, but he's moved on and so should we. The Panthers were always his favorite team. He didn't enjoy his time here and wanted out for a long time.

You come across as a very uniformed person. Luongo gave us his all. It’s not his fault the NHL came up with a rule that punished a team after a contract had already been signed. He was never supposed to play to the end of it - which was totally compliant when the deal was signed

Vancouver gets bent over backwards on this proposal

JT Miller has more points than Bennett and tippet combined this season

So the logic of this proposal is

Bennett & Tippett = JT Miller

Boeser = LATE round 2023 1st rounder

So you're a Canuck fan and you want to feed them a Cup win? That is awful for Vancouver, and off the bandwagon for you sir. It'll be one roster regular, plus a prospect and maybe even a pick, for each of Miller and Boeser. Teams will line up for Miller as it is and we are not underselling.

Awful for both sides honestly.

Florida has no need for Miller or Boeser. They're already exceptionally deep up front. And Bennett is fitting in very well with that team, why would they trade him?

If Florida is moving futures like a 1st and Tippett, it needs to be for a Dman. Not more offense.

On Vancouvers side, if they sold both Boeser and Miller separately they would easily get a better futures package then what they get from Florida here.

Just really bad for both teams.

Why did you do this?
You know it’s awful.

Really don't see either team doing this, Florida for cap reasons and Vancouver because we could get more separately for both players.

I actually don't wear a uniform. It's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black btw with this ridiculous proposal in mind...

Bettman told Gillis that he would go after it for cap circumvention, but he signed it anyway. Signing a deal with the idea in mind that you aren't going to play to the end of it is clear cap circumvention. Gillis tried to bluff the press, saying that he was going to play until his was 43 years old, but everyone knew it wasn't true. You don't just mess with Bettman's cost certainty idea and expect to get away with it. Cap recapture is exactly what Gillis should have expected.
