About 22M in cap space next season to lock up Byram, Peterka, McLeod, and Jack Quinn.

I do wonder how they'll feel about Norris when the season ends. He played 3 games for them before getting injured (shocker) and missing the last 7 games and counting

Rick 100% kicked his ass. He was a bad man in his playing days and still looks like one. :D
 
Maybe Rick does not want to stay unless he gets a long term contract and a serious payday. Due to last season he has a lot of options and may want to cash in on a 4-5 year contract. He is a Flyers legend and the HC spot has just been freed.

I see the cap space argument. I wonder more about some markets ability to keep up with the rising cap floor.

The upper level teams won't notice a change but the smaller market/not enough playoff revenue teams will have difficulty.

The UFA market is thin, really who are the Canucks actually getting.

They need Sam Bennett. I doubt that's happening. Switch gears and go for more of a 3lc match up center.

Big trade Cole Sillinger.
Many wouldn't like it but Kotkaniemi might work for Van's needs.

Reacquire 3rd pick from CGY and target Peterka and McTavish.

No one should have to suffer in Buffalo, or have Gudas as a captain. We can save one of them.

Just an absolute shit teammate. All the talent in the world and could be so much better but he just doesn't give a sh!t except about himself at least half the time. I've never seen a player so lazy on line changes, self involved, yelling at teammates, pretend backchecking, doing behind the legs drop passes in his own zone, and challenging 1 on 3 as last man back only to be stripped and scored on. Pathetic, just pathetic at times. I'm glad we got that garbage attitude and performance off the team, even though we obviously miss his skill.

Lol, I rewatched the video a couple times. Notice how he's the closest forward to his own net when Anaheim breaks out. The other two guys hustle back and at least put in an effort to get back in the play. After the goal goes in you see miller come coasting in back far behind everyone without a care in the world. And this is with their playoff lives on the line. What a loser. Haha.

Yep, the Canucks have been linked with Kotkaniemi before, and the Canes now have their cheaper replacement in Logan Stankoven.

They've been less than enthralled with Kotkaniemi since they signed him to that big offer sheet, which Montreal failed to match. He's earning $4.82m a season on a contract that doesn't expire until 2030.

He's probably overpaid for what he produces, but not egregiously so. And at 24, he still has some runway to get better. And with the salary going up, his cap-hit may not look that bad in a few years.

Canucks could probably get him on the cheap.....a draft pick might do it, if the Canes are anxious to dump his salary.

That's my line of thinking as well. A change of scenery. Clearly Rod's system is not for everyone. Carolina good team, good results because of such a team game. Individual skill not allowed haha.

I think the ufa market is pretty thin also.
Trades will be the way to go.But who?

Like, Toccs job isn't to babysit or be an effin surgeon. At some point the other people being paid in the org need to do their job

Well I gave a few options. There could be other options, more on the prospect side that a team like Buffalo could part with for a more experienced player to help their current roster. Weakens Van for a shorter time but higher upside.
