heck
I have a hunch the Canucks are signing Alexandre Carrier considering the radio silence around him (and how it was with debrusk/heinen/sherwood).

Nashville doesn't have the cap space for him anymore. Only 5.8M left to sign 5 guys.
Canucks have 4.5M left for a RD (assuming 1M for a goalie).

including ltir canucks have $5.5m in spending money left for a backup and whatever else is in their plan. they appear to have too many roster forwards and i feel like a trade must be contemplated for a rhd.

if not for debrusk i'd be ok with all this

Heinen (2.25) – Miller (8) – Boeser (6.65)
Debrusk (5.5) – Petterson (11.6) – RW
Joshua (3.25) – Blueger (1.8) – Garland (4.95)
Hoglander (1.1) – Suter (1.6) – Sherwood (1.5)
Podkolzin (1) / PDG (0.775)

Hughes (7.85) – Hronek (7.25)
Soucy (3.25) – Myers (3)
Forbort (1.5) – Juulsen (0.775)
Friedman (0.775)

Demko (5)
Silovs (1)

OEL (2.34)
Mikheyev (0.712)

From what I can see we have about 4.5M remaining (not including Poolman's contract). I think the 2nd line could use some size / grit in the RW position or we need a better RD than Juuslen - don't think we can do both. Forward group is very deep!

We have basically just enough cap for that, $4.5Mish, I would call this day a win if we do that.

A reliable 2nd pairing D and a backup goalie to keep Silovs in Abby for a season, and we're good. Not awesome and great (looking at Guentzel's cap and acquisition cost), but good. It may not be enough but at least you can see that our front office understands what FA is for in our context. You can't build a team on july 1st with 15 million or whatever it was in cap space. Whatever Nashville is doing may look like 2012 Minnesota in hindsight.

Forbort isn't tough, it's what frustrates Bruins fans ie his lack of not playing up to his size.

Every game I've watched up until this year he was a very tough player. Did not see many Boston games. They are boring. It's his staple and what he brings to the table. Very aggressive and a big hitter with size and little to zero offence. I always thought he played us super well going back to his LA days. I'm pretty happy with that signing.

It might lack the flashy, eye-popping "big name" but I think our forward group this year is top notch. It looks like a complete unit 1 through 13 that'll be hardworking without passengers. It looks like a forward group that'll battle in a playoff series. I feel very comfortable with this forward group.

Right now the biggest weakness is our bottom pairing D but there's still plenty of time to address that.
