DeBrusk would be a nice fit but AFP has him at like 5x$5.8M.
He only hits the 50 point range when he shoots an extra few percent that year. Regular years he's a 40 point guy. Not physical and considering all the chances he had to play with 80 plus point players over the years. Slightly better version of Pius Suter which shouldn't cost 3 times as much.

With teams like Chicago and SJ it’s hard to take advantage of the teams up against the CAP. Not looking good here other than real assets given up in a trade.

My strategy for the day -

Strengthen the bottom of the roster. I’d target Motte, Lizotte and Lomberg for the fourth line - upgrade over PDG, Aman, Podkolzin.

If there’s a top six talent you can get short term and cheap, I’d look at that to have on Petey’s wing. But keep cap space available for trades and trade deadline possibilities.

On D, Adam Boqvist would intrigue me as a reclamation project. Hakanpaa or Desharnais for some size and snarl.

It's the same roster we had at the beginning of last year minus Cole, Kuz and Mik... we were top in the league.
Teams in our division have improved. So far we've gone in the opposite direction by potentially losing Z and Lindholm. As of now the roster on paper has taken a step back. I don't think there's any way one can deny that.
