Quite obvious mgmt put all their eggs into the Guentzel basket and got caught with their pants down.
Pretty much, especially with the buyout, no doubt about it.

If they wanted him so bad, trade that third rounder and get him.

I’m not completely angry, though, I already assumed this would be the case, considering how many reports they said about going after Jake, I’m sure they had a back up plan, but these agents have been talking to certain teams for so long already

man oh man it’s silly season alright

i had been eyeing arvidsson as a mikael samuelsson-type short term, low-ish AAV pickup but it looks like the market is too much of a seller’s market

probably best case scenario is we sit out today, let the dust clear, and then come back for the soucies and coles and bluegers and suters in a day or two. and hopefully there is a 2024 version of 2009 samuelsson out there, where a middle six guy who can be carried to top line production that no one is chasing shakes loose.

that said, because i am unrealistic, i still hold out hope for tanev and i hope we are pushing hard on that front, assuming a reasonable deal is on the table from him (sounds like it’s not). and i’d smile if we brought back the other two tylers somehow, now that we are already locked into the worst one.

These Nashville deals are so strange. Their whole team is going to fall off a cliff production-wise within the next two years if they follow any sort of regular aging curve, and then have a ton of bad contracts with it.

They have a two year window where maybe they can get to the second round, but does anyone see them seriously contending with all these deals? They're not a big market team either, so being left with all these bad contracts when the roof eventually caves in is going to be tough.

Roy, Carrier, Dillon - all would be great.

Had a dream we signed Kylington, which would be a fine bottom pairing acquisition.

I am higher on DeBrusk than many here I think, partially because of how he did in the playoffs this year. Just wouldn't want to break the bank on him.

Barry Trotz signing a full starting lineup with 2016 energy to give Saros, Forsberg and Josi a mediocre run at the mug like

Been keeping the 2024 Off-Season UFAs tab in my spreadsheet updated for anyone that is interested in seeing an organized list of UFAs with their AFP projections.
