The idea that EP can be a consistent 100 point guy should be erased from people's mind. At best he's a two-way point per game center that should be a 1B guy. He's closer to a Nico Hischier than a Jack Hughes - which is OK but not OK at 11.6M.

Agreed 100% up until the trade him part.

Here's another former comparable: Datsyuk.

Look up how Pavel did in the 2009 run where they lost the Cup by a goal. Did you see Sid on the bench watching the seconds tick down? He was f***ing gutted he couldn't play the final period.

I still hope it's just a smoke screen for Brock to sign, or get traded because I still cannot believe they would have the nerve to keep him past the TDL.

I think it is Dhaliwal who reported that Brock and his agent had actually turned down an $8m, five year contract offer earlier in the season. Obviously for his camp, the 'term was the sticking point. He probably wants seven or eight years.

But I just can't see that happening. Canucks might go 'six years'. But even that's a stretch. And with Quinn Hughes on the limp again, I really think the Canuck front office needs to 'get real' about a playoff push this season.

Time to be a 'seller'.

So we have 65 points, if we want to make it to playoffs, we will need...what, 96 points? If not more. Which means 31 points out of the remaining 44. That's 0.700 point rate.

Only WSH WPG and DAL have been near that level of play.
with how poor the west has been this season, the playoff bar will likely be low 90s

I don't believe any this management group says, but I do trust them at least.

"We live day to day" hasn't been a quote yet.

My "Anger ownership but smart TDL Plan"
Going to "try" and be realistic with the trades.

1 - Trade Brock for a late 1st or 2 2nd rounder @ 25% Retained (or 50% if you wan't a tad more).
2 - Trade Suter for a 2nd Rounder or a 3rd + 4th.
3 - Trade Soucy in the offseason, more takers.
4 - Resign Forbort, good cheap depth, rather keep him.
5 - "look into the market" for guys like Petey, and Demko, readjust in the offseason.

This leaves with 2 1st rounders (Or 4 2nd rounders)
A ton of cap space to make Trades with the Extra picks + Free Agent Signings.

Owner will not do a full rebuild, so you then go HARD in the offseason and try 2 make a splash, or go crazy on depth, but we NEED 2 find another C with a trade of our 1st rounders+ or sign one in the offseason which is pretty bleak.

This is IMO the best case scenario, but would most certainly make the canucks miss the playoffs this year.

aquallini is such a short sighted owner he needs to be replaced everyone in this city knows the team isn't good enough to make the playoffs or even get past anyone. winnipeg will destory this team in 4/5 games. sell everything. reaccess in the offseason with loads of capspace. depends how they want to spend it.. dont be a jim benning.

Might as well show my stupid, never-gonna-happen TDL pipedream...let me explain on the other side so we can all laugh when I wake up...

O'Reilly for Mancini, '25 1st, '25 4th

-Nashville will be rebuilding whether they want to or not. This helps cut any losses and re-stock defense or whatever they want.

Mike Reilly and a 4th for Soucy

-Gives Isles an option on D for next year and they are buying low. Reilly is expiring this year and hasn't got many games but has had success as a next-guy-up.

*Ekblad for Boeser, Romani, '26 2nd

-This will never happen. For too many reasons. But I think it at least gives Florida an option for the Tkachuk slot other than Rodrigues and Samoskevich who is still a bit green. Ekblad is a UFA this year so it's like....an OWN RENTAL.

This gives us a bit of versatility down the stretch. I have EP taking the wing duties for the rest of the season potentially if it doesn't look too f***ed up. This type of turnover can send you to glory or leave you crashing upon the rocks.

Forbort

Perfectly balanced as all things should be. I think ROR is a better natural C than EP for now, but assuming playoffs we can do some interesting things if need be which is the sign of a good hockey team. Suter seems to find chemistry with whoever he plays, I'd manage Lekk's minutes playing 4th line PP specialist. No sense in having EP try to bomb them in all the time, everyone knows its coming.

Get thru the first round and I think we have a real serious shot. West is wide open for the taking, I don't believe in any of the top teams.

When Hughes comes back is when the roster is at it's most intriguing. I'd sub Reilly and switch Ekblad and Hughes around. Ekblad looks really slow but can accomplish things Hughes can't and vice-versa.

I can see them making deals like that, but its more likely that they'd quickly flip the assets acquired to get one of their 23-26 year old forward targets to retool on the fly and not wave the white flag on the season.

Please surprise us Allvin, please rejuvenate some faith from me as a fan this season.

I just don't want to hear "There was no deals to be made, or we didn't have time".

6 X 3 M for Olivier?

Thats crazy term.
yeah it is. I like the player, but the contract is kinda goofy. I guess if you're going to have a tough guy, might as well have the best one that can actually play? It's not like they're going to be bumping up against the cap anytime soon anyway. lot of young guys coming up.

Aquilini getting involved is gonna turn around one of the worst offenses in the league

I just know it

He’ll hire some more golf chiropractors from Arizona to motivate the boys for the playoff sprint

I can appreciate that he's good at his job, but he needs the job more than Columbus needs him. Could have easily lowered the CAP hit. 5 Y x 2 M for a 4th line energy guy that can PK is a remarkable contract for Olivier's limited skill set
