Usually I'd agree with this.. but they have already done that with Joshua, Blueger, Connor. On top of they have sherwood, garland for another year each. they can't keep signing bottom six guys to term.
It's partyly why we have no offense. They have too many of them and end up playing them in the top 6.
They needs to ditch some of these guys for cap, then acquire or severly overpay Jul 1 for a real top 6 player
Agree in general that bringing in another offensive weapon is the top priority, but I think that our lack of offense is amplified because Pettersson is playing like garbage.

Like, look at who's been scoring since Miller has been traded. The middle 6 guys are doing their jobs. Pettersson is not. And because Pettersson is not, DeBrusk is not either. I'd be happy letting Boeser walk, keeping Suter, and trying to get some bigger fish.

Just seeing EP40 as our top C in our lines makes me lose interest in the Canucks again.

DeBrusk has 21 goals with 22 games left. He is not an issue at all.

Tuch is apparently up for grabs, and Vancouver, according to talking heads and reporters, are interested.

I'd like that to happen. Wheels, size, scoring and at least some ability to use them (see his career season with Vegas)...how much?

Tuch would be a dream addition. He's dynamite, a lot older than he was when he dusted us for Vegas in the playoffs (along with Nate Schmidt lol) but would be a great add

I can't see the price being any less than a 1st + A prospect

Yea pettersson is clearly a problem, but even at the beginning of the season the team was still weak in the top 6. Our d was just so bad people overlooked it.

You talk about wanting to get hig fish but if you keep overpaying bottom 6 you can't afford them(Benning did this too)

Realistically the teams 3rd line is already 12mil for next year.
Joshua chytil garland

You can't be signing Suter long term when you already have that. He's also not a top 6 winger

Here's the teams top 6 for next year even if we assume both pettersson rebounds and lekkermaki is nhl ready

x -pettersson- x
Debrusk - × - lekkermaki

You can't keep wasting on bottom 6 when the top 6 needs that much

The big issues faced by the Canucks, can't be addressed at the TDL. Even if they end up dealing the logical guys like Boeser, Soucy, Forbort and maybe Suter, they're not getting anything back that would be a 'game-changer' this season.

There's a fairly obvious reason for this. Teams headed for the playoffs aren't interested in weakening their current lineup--so the only thing they'll be offering are picks and prospects.

As for lottery teams, they're not looking to add rental players who's only contribution might be to help them win a few meaningless games down the stretch--and basically weaken their draft position. And they certainly aren't interested in taking on contracts with term still left on them.

I suppose with Allvin, you never know what he has up his sleeve, so a shocker isn't totally impossible. But I just don't see the Canucks making anything but a few minor moves by Friday.

Judging by Friedman and Dhaliwal both chiming in, I’m going to guess he’s good as gone. I could see us easily retaining 50% and getting a 2nd+ for Suter.

Two meatballs are better than one but it doesn't mean dinner is free.

Exactly right. Can't just sign12 good value 3rd/4th liners and call it a day. We already have 5 guys signed and are currently looking at another center. Suter is great but he's a spare part we don't really have money for.

Wasn't there a rumor that Tuch's wife is from Vancouver and wants to go home?

Petey for Cozens + Tuch (extension signed) would make sense for both parties. Buffalo has an abundance of wingers so losing Tuch isn't really a big deal. Cozens desperately needs a change of scenery. Buffalo has to shake up their core... Petey is a rare chance to acquire a high-end franchise-level player at a discount.

Cozens and Tuch gives us some bite and size, they would fit Tocchet's heavy system too. Could be a rare win-win deal. Would then try to use assets from Suter/Boeser/Hoglander/Soucy deals to get Norris + another winger.

DeBrusk-Cozens-Tuch
X (via trade)-Norris-Lekkerimaki
Joshua-Chytil-Garland
Sherwood-Blueger-Aman/Karlsson/Raty

I can rock with something like this. It's not amazing but this should get us three pretty good scoring lines.

Agreed with your overall point here but I would leave Blueger out of the discussions. He’s a C who many teams would be fine having as the 4C and on the PK.

I fear we are going backwards here. Assuming Boeser is gone, we would have lost Horvat, Miller, and Boeser. That’s three 30+ goal scorers with only DeBrusk brought in as a replacement.

Boeser to Vegas makes sense. Replaces Saad.

Dorofeyev - Hertl - Boeser is a sexy 2nd line

Give me Connelly

If Tuch is truly available (I have my doubts), that's when you consider moving Boeser and using the assets you get in the Boeser deal + whatever else it costs to get him.

I really like Tuch.

That said, Tuch will be a UFA after next season and 30 years old. Not sure that's what we should be spending prime assets on unless there's a guarantee of a longer-term fit. Yes, there is speculation his wife likes Vancouver, but I doubt we can discuss terms with him in advance to guarantee he signs an extension. And if he's available a legit contender team would spend the assets regardless of long-term fit. His $4.75 million cap hit is pretty workable.
