Columbus just announced that their leading scorer, Kirill Marchenko, is out indefinitely with a broken jaw.....a huge blow to the Jackets, losing a 31-goal scorer for months. If the Jackets had any luck, they'd have none at all.

But wondering if the 'Boeser to the Jackets' rumors will pick up steam again? Time to check Columbus on Puckpedia to see what's available.

Norris, to me, is a worse Horvat.

With his relative youth and the rising cap, his $8m AAV is more palatable, but man, the irony of chasing that player in a cap dump trade is not lost on me.

Hope they can do better. How does this compare for you in terms of wanting to avoid a Cozens contract?
Ehh...I probably slightly lean Cozens, and that's with me bashing him lately. He is younger and the cap hit is lower, and there isn't the same injury history, so I think your risk of a "bad" outcome is lower. He is much worse defensively than Norris, but I kinda lean that way because he does more interesting things offensively and is a better ES scorer.

Norris a finisher. That's just what he is. VAN needs some guys to create chances and drive offense.

Right shot as well and we have only lefty Cs rn

Bro what? Lekk and a pick for Norris?

yeah. i dunno why people have groupthinked their way into believing ottawa need to move norris or are motivated to do so. he's got size, he's a good skater, he's a sniper and he can play center well enough. yes he's injury prone but they can always just mark stone him if that becomes a problem

he's got more value than boeser imo although i think in practice boeser might fetch more just because the canucks can retain on him if necessary

Miller Trade
  • Was essentially the deal that the Canucks were pushing for in the last month
  • Really just came down to Victor Mancini
  • Knew they were getting a 1st round pick; which is probably why they were able to flip it for Marcus Pettersson
  • Canucks think, given the circumstances, they did okay in the trade
Pettersson & O’Connor Trade
  • Had heard Vegas was interested in O’Connor
Going Forward
  • Will try to acquire another centreman
  • Thinks the Canucks have to be listen on Elias Pettersson still but the preference is to give him and the team some time to settle in
Centre Market
  • Wonders about Ryan O’Reilly in Nashville
  • Flyers think they are getting a 1st round pick for Scott Laughton
  • Not a lot of media activity around Ryan Strome with Anaheim
  • Kevyn Adams doesn’t want futures for Dylan Cozens; Calgary are fixated on Dylan Cozens
  • Trevor Zegras is an enigma; is an interesting piece because no one is sure how it will all play out with him
Salary Cap & CBA
  • Canadian teams are concerned about the Canadian dollar
  • Talks about “Competitive balance”; is a revenue sharing model; more applies to Winnipeg and Ottawa

Huge no to Norris. Not good enough and a shoulder that is already not holding up.

I’d look at McTavish, a sneaky offer sheet, or maybe see what pieces Anaheim want. With Carlson as a C prospect they could potentially be willing to part with Mason.

Have to think it’s a 1st, Boeser, D prospect like Mynio/DPetey? Maybe a forward prospect like Raty?

Why would Anaheim be interested in Boeser?

It makes no sense for Anaheim to move him though. They need to develop a core and he's part of it. They just need to wrap some experience around those guys. Would love to bag him but I don't think they should without getting a core piece back That means Petey.

Basically have to see what minny will give you to get Boeser's eighth year option early vs. what some other team will give you as a rental... Possible both options aren't super valuable.

The sell boeser as a top line forty goal winger à la Guentzel type ship has sailed, perhaps never finished completion in dry dock.

A McTavish offersheet is bold, but you are probably looking at a two 1st two 2nd two 3rd round picks if you want to offersheet him this offseason. Anything bellow a 9.2m bid they would probably match since the return for that would be just one 1st one 2nd one 3rd.

Then you are praying that McTavish becomes a #1 centre at that point. A failed offersheet bid would probably mean you aren't trading with Anaheim for at least a decade.

Yeah never been a fan of offer sheet. Too much risk.

Yup. They essentially have to target players that are considered damaged goods but younger: ie. Chytil, Norris, Cozens, or established players that are on bad teams but would be aged out by a rebuild: ie. Forsberg, Tuch, McCann, Vatrano, Konecny (pipe dream)
