I dont need Seravalli to tell me a slew of other none core isnt also unhappy at whats transpired.

Seems like Calgary has been drama free and just added a LW with term.

Im sure Jake is pleased we were forced to trade a centerman he was probably half promised to play with when Calgary offered more money haha.

Im sure Pius Suter is happy going into the 2nd half about to get caved in as he becomes a own rental.

Im sure Garland is happy after two years of not being able to get traded, now he watches JT force his way out while he's turned it around and been our best forward.

There's about 12 others with NHL livelyhoods affected by this fiasco.

Maybe some are team Petey but every game that goes by looking over at Elias in the lockerroom becomes one day closer to them also siding with Miller at this rate, imo.
I could always somewhat relate. Imagine being in an industry where you know all of your teammates salaries. Imagine there’s a guy that makes significantly more than you, yet his output doesn’t match it. While it’s not your money, you can’t help but start comparing, questioning whether the business values you, values actual performance, whether you should be trying anymore, and so on.

Now imagine the top six paid guy in the whole industry had terrible playoffs and comes to the following camp in a bad shape (confirmed by Rutherford).

Did anyone catch Friedman's Saturday Headlines? He mentioned a small group of Canucks got together and asked management to solve this issue during their East coast trip. In Florida specifically. That was OCT 15 - 17. Literally game 3 to game 4 of the season. Yikes, and management let this fester for 3 months.

Unreal.

One of the most wtf trades in NBA history.
It's one of the most shocking trades in North American sports history. It's like if you traded a 25 year old Gretzky for a 32 year old injury prone complimentary piece. Dallas fans are burning their jerseys and posting it on twitter and there are reports of mini riots happening all over.

Edit: THE most shocking and absurd trade.

PDG has been waived multiple times and not once has been claimed. Yet Tochett and co keep calling him up and believing on him. Shows the incompetence. Waive Juulsen as well please!
this needs to be done. juulsen should be a nice depth piece for anybody./

Mavs were not happy with Doncic’s condition and likely didn’t wanna pay him the super max.

Now because he was traded he can’t get.

Unreal.

But for AD? And because defense wins championships?

The whole thing is just bizarre.

After sleeping on it, I honestly believe we are a much better team now. Marcus Pettersson basically plays top 2 minutes with the pens and is usually in the top PK unit, O’Connor is also in the top PK unit.

I think we’ll be surprised. Our defense has become solid. With Hughes, Hronek and Pettersson leading the charge.

Dealing with Issues Internally
  • When the Canucks were in Florida, earlier in the season, a small group of players got together and tried to get Pettersson and Miller to work out their issues with each other
  • Was hope that after Miller's leave of absence, things would get better
  • Miller didn’t ask for a trade but everybody knew it was time for him to move on
  • Rangers were the most motivated buyer and he wanted to go there
Miller Trade Aftermath
  • Noise around Pettersson can calm down
  • Canucks are determined to see how it goes around Pettersson; just want him to play
  • Canucks will be eager to sign Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor to extensions
Dallas Stars
  • Will look to sign Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci to extensions
Trade Trends
  • Price for a rental is a 1st round draft pick
  • Sportsnet’s draft experts don’t like this upcoming draft
Calgary Flames
  • Have told teams that Rasmus Andersson, Nazem Kadri, and Mackenzie Weegar are not available
  • A number of teams have asked about Weegar
Salary Cap
  • Players were told the night before the cap increase was announced
  • A lot of NHL teams were surprised by the cap increase
  • 95.5m cap for next season cannot be changed
  • A lot of teams and players think the other years might climb even higher

Seems to me a lot of people are still star-struck by the Miller of a year ago. Maybe he will become that player again--but he certainly wasn't this season, and it's fair to ask if he ever would be again if he'd stayed in Vancouver..

So 'yes' I think the team is actually better--if only because harmony will once again reign in the room.

There's a brainless creamsicle running the USA right now so when the inevitable recession hits I doubt the cap goes up by that much.

Like I said in the management thread (and elsewhere), the vast majority of the blame for this season is on management. They fumbled it.

Agreed. Lets face it, we just cleared Miller’s cap with no retention, he is already in the older end, with his cap cleared we can go big game hunting this off season.

We have options now with MP. We can either play MP with Myers as the shutdown pair and free up Hughes and Hronek and let them have fun playing offense or we play Hughes - Myers and MP - Hronek and make sure there is offense from the back 40+min a game.

I think we might see scoring go up for us now because we won’t need to see our forwards drop back down to transition the puck whenever Hughes is not on the ice.

I also don’t think Elias Pettersson (The Forward) is safe.

I think management is giving him one last chance to show that he can be our top centerman. If he doesn’t perform for whatever reason during this last half, I think Management will trade him before his NMC kicks in.

Interesting. So the small group of Canucks asked Miller and Petey to solve it?

Like I said in the management thread (and elsewhere), the vast majority of the blame for this season is on management. They fumbled it.

I agree that a lot of the blame for everything that's happened this season falls on management but I don't think you have that quote right.

Sounded more like the players got together to try to get Petey and Miller to work things out.

This makes Tocc asking JT to "toughen up" EP even more ridiculous. What was he thinking?

Christ. This is the f***ing timeline:
  1. Some players had to have an intervention with Miller (and Petey) in October in hopes they'd hash it out.
  2. A month later there's some sort of incident and Miller is on leave.
  3. Two and half month later Miller traded.
My main question is what the hell did Miller do in training camp to reignite things? I'd bet a million dollars it wasn't Petey.

This is my interpretation as well.

The timeline makes sense, Miller took issue with Pettersson's offseason conditioning. Management and coach then allowed Miller to 'lead' Pettersson.

Friedman couching "it's semantics" with "Miller didn't actually ask for a trade, but they knew it was time" after the LOA is protecting Miller's reputation. Either management had to ask him, or he had to convey it somehow. Barring telepathy.

absolutely.

This is 100% hindsight from me, but it now makes no sense they traded Bo, with the information we are learning, and what information management already had at the time, they should have taken less and traded Miller. Friedman mentioned on the table at the time was Byram and Newhook. At the time that would have been great value (yes Newhook busted, but again at the time).
