Just trade Hoglander+ for Cozens and call it a day. Buffalo gets more sandpaper and Tuch can move back to center. With Kulich stepping up beside Thompson and Peterka, Tuch back as the 2nd line center, and McLeod doing really well as their 3rd line center, Cozens is redundant on that team, especially for his cap. He hasn't lived up to his contract (and has been very unlucky this season so....)

May as well get the Marcus Pettersson contract talks started.

With the cap skyrocketing these upcoming years (and potentially beyond) and his agent knowing they have the Canucks over a barrel, I wouldn't be surprised if he's asking for something like 7.5M x 7 years if not more.

A lot of people are going to freak out about it, but it's to be expected moving forward.

7.5M would be catastrophic

Two underperforming players that play a very different type of game. Buffalo needs better forecheckers and players with grit in their forward group. Cozens is redundant and like Hoglander, vastly underperforming especially relative to his contract. The Cozens contract is significantly worse than Hoglander's and getting out of that is gonna let them make bigger plays in FA as needed. It's just as big a gamble for the Canucks but we've already seen what happens to players when they leave Buffalo.
