I agree with your sentiment but it doesnt mean you need goalies - juat support the goalies you have better and they get better

Agree on the pk focus and yeahget dahlin a vet and imo a couple garlands and coach accountable

I dont know how their culture and program is in rochester but it has to be on the same page with your pro club
Well if you have a choice of support your goalies better or have a goalie that can cover up the mistakes as you make that transition, I think you would do the latter.

How close to the playoffs am i - or in this case am i resetting how the team plays

How many goalies can actually weather the buffalo storm to a point that matters - which is playoffs.. only a handful that good

How would you guys rate from biggest things to focus on to least going into the offseason?

( Forwards / Defense / Goalie Situation / Coaching / Management)

All about the top 6 for me.

Defense is a finished product, at least for next season.

Bottom 6 + depth forwards should be good and relatively cost effective.

Goaltending...who knows. Lankinen should give us 40 good starts. Last time I checked, Puckpedia had him with the #25 AAV for next year, and Demko at 21. Some question marks here, but not a top priority to focus on. Some decisions will need to be made, but not immediately.

Management has another year at minimum.

Coaching will need to be addressed, but I'm not concerned about it. I do think Tocchet was "Team Miller" and there's a real chance he's not back. But this management team has done well with their coaching hires so far. Obviously the coaching situation will need do be stabilized before July 1st if they plan on making any big ticket UFA signings. But the window to address this isn't even really open yet, and I see jt as more of a procedural thing than a priority. Of course we will have a coach signed and happy before summer.

And that leaves the top 6. Step 1 in this department is EP40 getting his Alien swagger back. If that doesn't happen, QH43 isn't likely to re-sign imo. I still have faith in Pettersson, and expect him to be back to his 1C form next season.

On the wing, can we get 4 top 6 wing from DeBrusk, Garland, Chytil, Hoglander, Lekkerimaki? Maybe, for stretches. Don't think you can have Chytil penciled in at C, if at all, so that would help our speed on the wing. Asking a lot of Lekkerimaki, and definitely can't assume he'll be ready, but he'll bring finish if be is. Still, that group looks a lot better if you add a play-driving 1W to the top of it, and Allvin should be kicking over all rocks looking for one.

Whatever happens on the wing, we need a legit #2 C. Chytil simply can't be the only/best option for that slot. Whether UFA or trade, we can't have Blueger as our 2C if and when Chytilis out of the lineup. I'm good with Blueger, Raty, and Aman in the bottom 6/press box, and Chytil if he's back being the "5th C" on the wing. But need to fill the roster gap at Center behind EP40.

I remember woodely talking about how it was one of the worst if not the worst environment for goalies so yeah even if you want to flip the switch, its going to take awhile and you probably need a top goalie to help if you really want to get better.

I would target Levi and Norris for Demko trade. Do recognize there is significant risk with Norris

but what is demko going to do for them? keep them by losing by 3 goals but rather 1 goal while they figure out all the other shit?
i don't understand honestly

The Sabres had the worst goaltending in the NHL. If they had average goaltending they would probably be a playoff team. Tuch for Demko, if Tuch doesn't want to resign in Buffalo makes sense. His wife is from Vancouver.

I mean you can look at things as simple as, to win, try to lower gaa and keep gpg level or increase it. Their GAA is at 3.44, like 3rd worst in the league.

Demko could be one big piece of lowering GAA. If your goalie sucks, that GAA ain’t coming down even if you play lock down hockey. Get a good goalie and then get a bunch of defensive D that can defend and PK to pair with their puck movers.

I am not really interested in fixing their problem, just looking at teams that has shit goaltending and have centers that they might be willing to give up to improve that.

So we need forwards next year. What's in the mix. Karlsson, Lekk, Mueller, Sassons, Raty, Alrikson, Klimovich, Bains, Aman PDG, and Kravtsov. Can we get 4 - 5 out of those before the next season ends.

I know I am missing a few, but if we could get four legit player from that bunch we will be a pretty good team,

I think with a strong offseason Lekk will be a lock for the top 6.

Hope so, because at this point he seems a long ways away from being a lock in the top six.
To me its a top 9. They have 4 locks for the top 9, depending on off season moves. Peter, Jake, Sherwood, Garland. Then you have Joshua and Hoggy who are likely. Lekkeremaki will do well to crack that group. Raty as well.

I see the rest as 4th line fodder meaning we need a couple good forwards, one being a centre.

Where's the Canucks media with the outcry over Trenin breaking Forborts skull while he was vulnerable on the ice?

Do they only show up when there's reality tv locker room drama going on?

Get your asses in gear this is f***ing pathetic
I would say literally every local media member talked about it when it happened and weighed in some form of outrage over it. Not sure where (or where not) you're looking to miss it.

Lekkerimake with time and space is going to be lethal. I don't know if he's going to be strong/fast enough to create those for himself next year, but IMO he'll get there soon

Raty is closer IMO.
Agreed, I’m probably higher on Raty than most but I see him as a 20-30-50, all situations centre in the next 2-3 years. I see him starting as our 4C and becoming a dependable 3C as the season wears on.

i wonder if blueger could be cap casualty this summer. if raty sassons or whoever takes his spot for 1/2 price and they find a righty hand centerman.

third line: sherwood/raty/joshua.
4th line:???/aman/sassons.

Starting to really feel like Allvin poor treatment of players and Aquilini being a meddling owner is really effecting players signing in Vancouver.

They haven’t signed a single college UFA.

Battling Willander over bonuses when the guy has vastly outplayed his draft position? Give me a break.

Truscott wouldn’t sign. Bruz didn’t appear to want to sign. They aren’t resigning their UFA’s and got no assets.

Am I missing something? Really starting to feel like this is just the same shit over again.

Holy crap it’s going to be a long few months.
Take a break, enjoy some playoff hockey. Watch other teams and recognize how much better they are than Van. Come back with some new ideas on how to shake up the roster. Comb through some advanced stats to find someone who's ready to break out.
