I don’t think Chytil is reasonably worth anything at this is point, but I also don’t think he has a future in this team. He is a good player but probably should not be playing any more. I think Suter, Bennett and a 5m winger would set up our forwards decently well. We would have a lot of depth and youth, a bit more grit, but still lacking in high end skill.

Could be the right solution to give Lekkerimaki a little more time to development. If he hits, he'd be that high end winger in year or two and not cost any additional assets.

Chytil I have no read on. I don’t think he’s dependable enough given his injury history down the middle. And aside from his first 5-6 games, he was about as effective as Aman.

If EP40 returns to his level prior to his injury that sidelined him, that gives the Canucks two legitimate 1st lines, a speedy bottom 6 and a top 5 d-core.

i think it's unlikely for us to have that much turnover, we saw this season what happens to the system when you try to have much turnover. We had to roll back a bunch of things and get the team to essentially relearn the system.

If - and a big if - Florida re-signs Bennett, then how untouchable is Lundell? He would be the most ideal centre option for us, imo. Florida still needs help on defence, especially with Ekblad likely walking as a UFA this summer. Likely a pipe dream, but would make for an interesting 3 way trade:

Florida - young top 4 dman
3rd team - futures?

Interesting target. He'd be stuck behind Barkov and Bennett so he probably wouldn't be untouchable.

Would require a hefty package to acquire. Maybe something around the 1st + Willander or the 1st + Mynio + Lekkerimaki.

I like Lundell. I just don’t see Florida trading him given he just signed LT.

Be more expensive to replace him via FA in the current cap world.

Only way would be a massive overpayment.

The number of young centers with upside that are actually acquirable is vanishingly small. Peyton Krebs might be the only one?

Mavrik Bourque offer-sheet is probably my favorite option to address the position, accompanied by a mid-tier UFA (eg, Roslovic or retaining Suter) as a hedge.

Canucks have two major needs in the off-season:

1. a 2C (Sillinger/Lundell/MacTavish/Hayton/Bourque/Kulich/Zacha/Bennett/Granlund)
2. A winger to play with Petey (Marner/Ehlers/Lafreniere/Peterka/Tuch/Vatrano/Maccelli/Reichel)

If they can find players in both those categories, perhaps by leveraging their surplus of solid D, they should be in good shape heading into next season.

DeBrusk doesn't really fit with Pettersson, as he seems to have more success playing with a center who plays more of a traditional North-South game. Someone like Zacha would be a better center to pair with him. Pettersson seems to have success with high-motor, cerebral wingers.

I kinda like the idea of Duchene but he's going to get paid way too much for a season where he shot 20%. But if they can get him, Tavares or Nelson at a reasonable rate and term they should consider it.

Disregarding the Zibanejad stuff as I think it's an absolutely terrible idea. Going with a player like Sillinger/Bourque as 2C is betting on the upside of the player, whereas going with Duchene/Bennett/Granlund is betting on them not regressing. I think both strategies are valid, but both come with significant risk.

Really will have to trust our pro scouting, and go with the path that they determine is the most likely route to success. I think this off-season will be the most important of this management's tenure, and perhaps one of the most important in franchise history. Hughes' future with the team is likely determined by how successful they are this summer.

lowkey it's always been a problem.. the team survived on an unsustainable shooting percentage for the first half of last season and then relied on defensive hockey and good goaltending for the rest.

Tocchet modifying his system should generate more offence if he's willing to do it.
