they were never that serious about it and were trying to manipulate the negotiations
I am not sure how you sell stuff but if you are going around calling everyone everyday to try to pawn Boeser off, that will lead to some really low price coming in.
We saw leaks coming out the week before TDL about what the price point is for Brock and frankly nobody paid a 1st rounder for wingers.

I think you guys just need to accept that a slow winger that is slumping hard doesn't attract that much interest.

this is BS.....you actually believe that?

they were never that serious about it and were trying to manipulate the negotiations

which in turn left a market not that serious about it. It's also stupid considering why they waited or just didnt take a Toffoli like package vs going to free agency and getting torched worse

Anyone with half a brain can see the cap increase the contracts given to fellow 2014-16 drafted players and this years UFA class and see were not getting deals unless Brock wanted to give them

Practically every report said as much. It also does make sense when you consider our circumstances. Teams were already trying to screw us with the Miller/Pettersson fiasco. We also couldn't find a dance partner for months because every team insisted on us adding Willander.

Regardless, taking a Toffoli package not only signals the season is dead from that moment onward, it'd be yet another trade we where end up getting significantly less than expected for a good roster player. Doing that often enough gives you a reputation. Just wait Allvin out and he'll buckle.

On the whole, they didn't want to trade Boeser for essentially dart board picks and throwaway the season when it was still very possible we make the playoffs.

Horvat was turned into Hronek. Lindholm is completing his second consecutive disappointing season. Kuzmenko spent a season tapping in beautiful passes from Pettersson; inconsistent and bouncing from team to team since then. Zadorov is okay but nothing special-- and Kuzmenko was part of the trade to get Zadorov in the first place. Miller basically became Marcus Pettersson and a couple of lower-level assets.
yeah we basically turned 2 top 6 centers ( 1 of them a top line center) into 2 top 4 D, 1 bottom 6 center and 1 bottom paring D. Basically patching one hole by creating another, I am not sure which hole is harder to fill.

The only players on that list that are legit top 6 guys are Miller and Horvat, and there was perfectly justifiable reasons for their departures from the team. Lindholm is a 3C at this point and Zadorov would be under both the Pettersson's on the depth chart.
Have to admit it is kind of funny that the player that was booted from here because of concerns with his defensive play is now playing top-6 minutes for arguably the only team stingier defensively than the Canucks.

Taking a 2nd and low end prospect most likely doesn't do shit for us. Great we get a 2nd, what can you get for a 2nd? Beauvillier. If we want anything of value back we are going to have to give up a 1st anyway. Sure having an extra 2nd rounder when we trade our 1st sounds nice in theory but there is a cost to trading away Brock. Would we see the team showing as much heart and then Quinn coming out saying that makes him feel good about having this to build on? Probably not. Is that itself worth more than a 2nd? probably considering the odds of a 2nd busting in this weak draft is pretty high.

We’re trending so close to scorched earth rebuild.

Miller.
Horvat.
Kuzmenko.
Lindholm
Zad.

So much talent let go by the front office. This team is in no man’s land
NHL free agency isn't NFL free agency, where you can plug holes. Maybe not at the premier positions like OT, DE, CB1, but you can fill in S, IOL, LB, etc. and secondary players at the key positions.

NHL, rare to see the better guys hit the market. Guys who warrant a max term 8 year deal tend to get signed. Lost money of that extra year at age 35 that they don't want to leave on the table. Marcus Pettersson/Chrychrun were supposed to hit the market but now won't.
