What is the situation with Chytil? I'm guessing we won't know for sure until closer to the end of summer, which would mean management could be handcuffed for the 2C role. They might roll into next season with something like this:

Hog - EP40 - Sherwood
Debrusk - Chytil - Ehlers($9-9.5m)
Joshua - Blueger - Garland
DOC - Raty - Lekk
Karlsson/Sasson/etc as the 13th forward.

4th line is kind of a sheltered line. Blueger and EP40's lines does most of the heavy lifting. We should be able to bank up enough cap space to make a big addition in the next TDL.

If Chytil is going to LTIRetire, then we have an extra $4m to try to get a legit 2C.

That isn't a very good forward group, but honestly its about as good as we can realistically hope for, unless we start packaging our bluechip prospects + 1st rounders for a good 2C.
With the way today's game is played and what he brings there's no way Lekk plays on a fourth line

Sure but how confident are you that Demko will be healthy all year cause I’m not. The guy is in Sami Salo territory of being injury prone.

Can Lankinen handle a full season as a starter? We saw his play drop this year when his workload increased.
Thenover reactions of demko are crazy. He started 51 games last year lol

I would be shocked if Hoglander if he is on this roster come training camp is not on Peteys wing. They like playing and they have chemistry.

On a side note I wonder if they look at player playing wing and think they can covert them to a center.

If he has a productive summer in the gym, we're going to see a 21-40-23 line at some point next year IMO. tre kronor.

now watch them all get traded over the summer. haha.

I could see trading a combination of Garland, Joshua, Demko, Hoglander and Debrusk if it allows the team to free up enough cap space to sign an Ehlers, Marner or Bennett type player, or acquire via trade a first line forward. Essentially, stripping us of depth at forward in favour of high end talent which I think is a trade off that makes sense for this team. Probably unlikely though.
Marner likely forces their hand in that situation, but they should be able to add an Ehlers / Bennett level player without moving anyone out.

The question then becomes who else they add. If it’s a lower end piece like Zacha or Suter they may be able to roll with everyone but also not sure the team is much better going into next season. If they can find a way to add a second impact piece then something would give.

Honestly, i want our lines to look like this next year.

xxx Petey xxx
Debrusk xxx Garland

3rd Line - Sherwood Chytil Hoglander
( speed, scoring, Tenacity)
4th Line - Joshua - Bleuger or Raty - O,Connor

Gives us 19ish million to find 2 Wingers and a 2C.

And we have some pretty significant D and pick trade assets to get this done also.
Am pretty sure Vinn Diesel will not want to play for a Canadian market team

Would you not want to maybe reunite the Joshua-Blueger-Garland line next year and hope they rekindle their magic from last season? Since we lack a clearcut L2 and it is unlikely we are able to acquire a 2C, it might be a viable option to build two quasi-L2/L3?

Trading Garland opens up $5m, but then you need to find a play driving player for the middle 6 and that will easily cost you $5m+ anyways. Unless you are able to parlay the $5m saving PLUS something else for an upgrade?
money.. i guess you can technically start the season like this, also there is a large probability that Chytil starts the season on IR. If he is healthy before the buyout period starts and we buy him out, we'll have like 22M worth of cap and 3 spots to fill. Honestly feels like Garland's money can be better used to upgrade the 2nd line with a guy that can shoot the puck or a better playmaker.

This off-season we just have a ton of directions we can go in.

1 - Go heavy on the ALL in trade route and get your C and W that way. (Bye Bye Willander)
2 - Combination of Trades and UFA, Target the superstar Wingers and pray young guys like Lekk take a jump (aka target Ehlers / marner)
3 - Target the Mid class UFA Forwards and just even out the targets and look for later steals in the UFA Market and make some trades to balance it all out
4 - Trade Demko for a W and find another G for cheaper and use cap more effectively.
5 - Do nothing in the trade market, Focus only on UFA and keep willander, Dpetey etc and watch Quinn leave in a couple years.

And there are so many more options, it's gonna be wild which direction they will go

Peterka and Quinn played center before arriving to Buffalo. Voronkov is another but he’s untouchable probably. Kent Johnson as well but definitely not available lol.

So yeah, Peterka/Quinn maybe.

Dakota Joshua played C at Ohio State.

could always convert one of our LHD to C...... hahaha

Why do you have Bloom on the team?

Also, you signed the wrong Raty.

Marner likely forces their hand in that situation, but they should be able to add an Ehlers / Bennett level player without moving anyone out.
That's true, although they its hard to imagine that they will only sign one of Ehlers or Bennett, and neither of Suter or Boeser, and also not otherwise acquire another top six / top line forward. To put it another way, if they sign Ehlers then I think they will need to also sign Suter or another centre as I can't imagine they will go into the season with Pettersson - Chytil - Bleuger - Raty down the middle with Chytil's career being in jeopardy. If they sign Bennett, then its a bit less of an issue though, although they probably still want to add a goal scorer. So, I think it would be surprising if they make a free agent signing / acquisition of a "bigger" money player without also trading away one of the players I mentioned.

having a full year of healthy Demko and Lankinen would basically set our floor pretty damn high.

Realistically, I don't know how we keep both of them if the intent is to make any meaningful additions up front. Thanks to OEL's buyout, we simply don't have the flexibility to spend 9.5M on goaltending. So we're either going to be sacrificing a top tier winger, praying to any and every god that Chytil doesn't fall over to a stiff breeze or trading away players like Garland, thus losing our depth.

Something has to give, and I think the best move is goaltending. Unfortunately, I can't imagine Demko has any value right now.

If we are exploring the trade market, I really like Matias Maccelli has a target. He had a disaster year, but he's been a standout player in previous season who's really effective. I think he's a guy primed for a bounce back campaign.

DeBrusk should never be a first liner on a serious team. We need 2 legit first line wingers and 2nd line center to do some damage.

Having JT for a full year and a new coach will help imo

In theory yea,

Their C depth concerns me. Mika is falling the f*** off, looks shitty. Bredman gonna be older, like sure it’ll help…but by how much? Unless Shester decides to go supernova I don’t see them being that different.

I don’t know even the next coach will see JT as a C.

Shisherskin has been like supernova for like the past few years. Without contract distraction he might just go back to his supernova form

You can’t spend assets like the Canucks have on the backend and expect to have forward core like Florida, Tampa, or Dallas you have to m

Lol at Miller helping the Rangers. He's helping them miss the playoffs by at least 4-5 points when it's all said and done. In 2 years they'll try to get rid of that contract.
I still hated that we traded Miller but long term probably a good thing we did. Still think we make the playoffs this year if that whole fiasco doesn't happen however.
