What 6th or 7th defence-man play 20 mins and put up pretty good play driving numbers.

In 2800+ 5v5 minutes in the past three regular seasons, Liljegren has a 57.8% goal share and 56.4% xGoal share, both among the highest marks in the NHL among blueliners.
Oh?

His team must have seen a lot of success recently

f***ing get real lmao

Stop acting like Toronto’s management who kept running it back with the same BS every season

Lyubushkin is another guy that could be a fit here that I haven't seen mentioned much.

Shouldn't be too expensive and is an upgrade on Juulsen.

Did something happen to Chandler Stephenson? It seems like nobody is talking about him.

My updated UFA list.

Long-term F: Guentzel, Reinhart, Marchessault, DeBrusk, Heinen, Amadio
Long-term D: Roy, Carrier, Tanev

Buy-low F: Nylander, Raddysh, Lizotte, Comtois, Jesper Boqvist, Katchouk (AHL), Studnicka (AHL)
Buy-low D: P-O Joseph, Kylington, Adam Boqvist, Bean

Veterans I'd throw 1-year deals at for depth: David Perron, Alec Martinez, Ian Cole, Sam Carrick

I watched a TSN video with Bruce Boudreau where they asked “has Stuart Skinner cemented himself as Canada’s goalie for the 4 Nations Cup”.

We are so f***ed in goal.
It's between Skinner, Thompson, Hill and Jarry for Canada.

Veritable murderer's row there.

USA will have Demko, Hellebuyck, Oettinger, Gibson and Swayman to choose from.

Russia will have Vasilevsky, Shesterkin, Sorokin, or Bobrovsky

Finland have Saros and Raanta

Sweden have Markstrom and Ullmark

All of these teams have a better option or two in goal than Canada. Weird drop off in talent.

I’m preparing myself for tomorrow:

“f*** sakes”
“Come on”
“Seriously?”
“DO SOMETHING!”
“WTF”

And finally

“Hell yeah”

This could be over 8 minutes or 8 hours.
Tomorrow:
- miss out on Guentzel
- one slight overpayment on a middle 6 forward
- one slight overpayment on a bottom 4 D
- two depth signings that we balk at but it ends up being like Pius Suter and we applaud pro scouting 6 months later
- Martin Jones, Brandon Duhaime signs

Quote me cowards

So would signing one of Guentzel/Reinhart and someone like Roy move us into top tier contenders? I'd like to think so.

But managing the cap might be impossible.

I think if Reinhart makes it till tomorrow he should be our prime target.

Been holding my breath on him for a while. Surprised he’s not signed. Guentzel a bit of a mercenary wild card I think largely based on salary. We have a shot due to the Pens connections, but Reinhart being a local guy having just won the Cup is really intriguing he’s not locked up.

You have 5 teams in the 4 Nations Cup there. :P

Although your point still stands re: our goalies sucking.

Russia isn’t playing, but your point remains. Canada’s greatest weakness is in net. We’ve got to hope McDavid, Crosby (and maybe Bedard) can outscore our problems.

IMO, USA has the best blueline and goaltending.
