Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | Much Ado About Nothing

at least now we can focus on the true worry for the canucks: is hronek actually legit

(i'm joking. kinda)

They have to do something if they are actually trying to make the playoffs this year after the Miller trade.

The Flames just improved, and I don’t really see the current roster as a playoff team.

Well we now have the softest too 6 in the NHL w EP, Chytil, and Boeser.

Not built for playoff success whatsoever

JT Miller’s turning 32 signed to 2030 with a cap hit of 8M, he’ll be 37 in the final year of his contract.

  1. Canucks didn’t retain salary, just freed up a lot of salary room, can use it to improve their roster however they like.
  2. Filip Cytill is an excellent middle 6 forward & only 25 years old.
  3. Canucks can resign all their players including Boeser and still have lots of salary space left.
  4. Mancini is a solid D prospect, something we lacked before, now we have Willander, Mancini, Pettersson, kudryavtsev (D prospect pipeline is excellent).
  5. Canucks traded a 1st to Tampa for JT & got a 1st back from the NYR, but the Canucks got to use Miller’s services from 2019-2025

Considering all this, it’s a win for the Canucks. This year the Rangers got better, going forward the Canucks will be much better off because of this trade. Good trade for the Rangers if they win the Cup this year or next, but that’s a lot of pressure and the Rangers aren’t really doing that well this year so a bit of a weird move by Drury to go for it.
