Pedey needs to come back in the lineup sooner than later. He showed well in that first game.
From yesterday.
Vancouver Canucks
Brandon Saad
- Will continue to talk teams about Miller & Pettersson
- Waiting until someone makes a worthwhile offer
Carolina Hurricanes
- Expects his next contract to be around 1m pro-rated
- Maple Leafs, Stars, Oilers, and Capitals are candidates to sign him
San Jose Sharks
- Are not done yet and will focus on adding a centre
Florida Panthers
- Loose contract talks with Mikael Granlund but expectation is they will trade him
- Thinks Stars and Maple Leafs would be interested
- Sharks have no retention slots left
- Cody Ceci and Mario Ferraro have generated interest
- Ceci wants to go to a contender
Pittsburgh Penguins
- Want to add a 3rd pairing defenceman
Los Angeles Kings
- Michael Bunting, Drew O’Connor, Marcus Pettersson, Anthony Beauvillier, Bryan Rust, and Erik Karlsson are all available
- Haven’t approach Rust about his NMC but he is open to moving
- Looking for a right shot top-6 forward to help their powerplay
- Have no cap space with Drew Doughty returning
Wait so trying to shift the discussion away from the bozos - what's everyone's call on the UFAs?
AFP analytics has Boeser at Boeser at 7x8.7 and Suter at 4x3.8
Assuming your "best case" for this team happens, would that mean you sign them or are you trading them in the next month prior to the tdl?
Dhaliwal bringing up the avs as another team looking at miller. (This is pretty obvious tho)
No idea what would be a good return from the Avs, people keep metioning Mittelstadt and I don't like him at all.

They could always flip Necas. Gives them cost certainty at a premium position (and a guy who can actually win faceoffs).they're the most obvious good fit (from the acquiring team's perspective) for miller.
but yeah, think i'd rather have concussion prone chytil man
Can't see Blake trading away Clarke, seems too god damn stupid of a thing to do.That's the perception, but LA has surprised in how well they're doing.
They botched Fiala and Dubois, but also signed Gavrikov and Foegele. Realizing Dubois didn't work out, they traded that anchor contract into goaltending that fixed a major hole.
That said, if there's any chance on a Miller for Clarke swap, pursue it with much fervor. Clarke isn't that far off from Power, if at all, and he has that right shot that is so highly sought after.
Added bonus: We could have Miller/Pettersson 2.0 with Hughes/Clarke. joke
I wonder if getting a 1st rounder back is basically the line this management is drawing at. We can take less when it comes to the roster player or prospect but we have to get a 1st rounder because they will flip it instantly.Canucks reportedly liked Ross Colton before he was traded to Colorado. He's basically a 40-point middle-6 utility forward signed for 2 more years at 4m. Has a full-NTC this season, though. Maybe you could get someone like Lehkonen but, once again, has some trade protection and injury concerns.
I can't see the Avalanche flipping Necas.
I'm not a fan of Mittelstadt and Girard. I do like what I've seen of Parssinen and think he'd be an interesting addition even though his value is very low. Colorado doesn't have as lot of draft picks (no 1st this season but two 2nds, no 2nds next season but one 1st). Their prospect pool is barren apart from Ritchie and Gulyayev.

My guess would be Canucks would want Ritchie (we've got horrible C depth prospects wise) and Colorado would want to dump Mittelstadt. Would guess throw in a 2nd round pick and that might be a potential framework. Could also end up being a three way trade where Canucks move Mittelstadt elsewhere but unless Colton is willing to waive his NTC it would be a tough deal to make without Mittelstadt.Canucks reportedly liked Ross Colton before he was traded to Colorado. We have many legitimate gripes about how management has handled the PR side of things, but a half-decade ago it'd be likely that we lose Willander, our 1st, and 7th for some of the hobbled D-men out there on the market right now. I'm happy they're standing pat and just waiting.Dhaliwal's comments in the first 10 minutes:
Vancouver Canucks
Shopping for Defenceman
- Teams are still calling on Miller and Pettersson
- Canucks had two scouts at the Rangers game and had a scout at the Devils vs Flyers game
- Thinks the Avalanche could be a possibility for Miller; they need a centreman; Mittelstadt hasn’t been great
- A couple of years ago, the Canucks and Avalanche talked trade about Miller; Alex Newhook and Bowen Byram were the pieces going to Vancouver; doesn’t know why the deal never materialized but were “Along”; wonders if Miller would be willing to waive to go there despite preferring East Coast teams
- Looking for a top-4 defenceman but prices are very high
- Teams want a 1st round pick and Willander; Canucks won’t do that trade
I would imagine a win for us would be getting Ritchie out of this deal with the Avs (not sure Avs would move him but that's the piece we should be targeting)Bryan Rust: I wonder if Rust would prioritize VAN (JR/Allvin) if they show interest? 33 at the end of this year and has 3 years left on his $5.125m AAV deal. He is exactly the type of short-term replacement VAN needs if Boeser walks. Smart player.
Marcus Pettersson is another great fit. A good chance to re-sign him. He could help save Soucy from himself.
Cody Ceci: Dumping Desharnhais to get Ceci might not be a bad idea. He's UFA at the end of this year, so they don't have to re-sign him, and they get out from under the 2 year commitment for VD. SJ gets a place holder they can use next year along with a future asset.
@Peen:
Brock Boeser: I would re-sign Boeser at $8m AAV for 6 years max. He will have to give up the final 2 years to get that AAV. Last report I recall was that they offered $8m~ at 3-4 years and he wants 7-8 years. Could have been Cam Robinson.
Pius Suter: gets the Joshua contract of $3.25m AAV, max. They love this guy. If it came to it, they would dump Hoglander to keep him.
On COL's interest in Miller: I don't like Mittlestadt's defense and lack of strength either, but he may be the best of the options available. Unless, CAR is willing to send Kotkaniemi over? Not of fan of Chytil's durability or his relative skill level. At least Mitts has that going for him.
Colton + Ritchie for me.Canucks reportedly liked Ross Colton before he was traded to Colorado. He's basically a 40-point middle-6 utility forward signed for 2 more years at 4m. Mittelstadt started the season red hot (I think it was 13 points in his first 10 games) and then just fell off. I can't imagine he'd be a long term fit but there's always teams interested in adding a potential top 6 C (we also might be one of those teams soon lol)I was thinking along those lines as well. Miller for Colton/Mittelstadt, Ritchie, & 2nd/Parssinen/whatever. Can use Colton or Mittelstadt as the 2nd line centre on a temporary basis then choose to keep or flip them in the off-season.
Would the Av's be willing to ask Colton to waive his NTC? Cap wise it would also be tight (doable but leaves the Avs with little LTIR room.Colton + Ritchie for me.
