So what you are saying is that they don't deserve blame for signing them and they get credit for spending assets to get rid of them? Sounds like they can do no wrong.

I think it’s more you can’t shit in the bad signings without acknowledging the good ones.

Now go burn the rest of our trade chips+cap on Pasternak or similar.

They do deserve blame for signing them. But they also deserve credit for signing Lankinen and Sherwood which look like big hits. The reality is that every signing isn’t going to work out. I give them credit for moving on from their mistakes but that doesn’t negate the bad signings.
VD always looked like a bad signing to me and I’m not surprised it ended up like this. Heinen was worth a shot imo.

Sign MP and Lankinen.
Trade Boeser.
Keep Garland (because I like him and I don’t think other teams value him)
Try and keep Suter if price is right. If not, trade him.
Trade Forbort if he can’t get re-signed for cheap.
Trade Soucy if anything remotely decent is offered.
If a good offer comes in, trade Demko. Otherwise keep.
Hope EP turns it around but trade if a legit offer comes in. Whether TDL or offseason.

Look to be a facilitator of deals to acquire assets with space at the TDL.

Going to the April game vs Anaheim. Expect the team to be very different by then.

For sure, I'm happy to give credit where credit is due...Lankinen and Sherwood were good signings, but they also served a necessary purpose...they needed a backup and they needed some speed and physicality up front. Full marks for addressing those needs...I don't think Desharnais and Heinen filled a "need" for the team that couldn't have been addressed internally or by spending lesser assets or via waivers

Again, I think Boeser is a better asset - but it’s hard to see us replacing his value in a trade. We have no one in the wings who bring what he brings, and if we try to replace him in free agency, it’s six of one and a half dozen of the other. Getting a conditional 1st + for Boeser probably doesn’t help entice Hughes to stay.

Well, I guess Hughes, Hronek, MP, Willander, EP2, and Mancini is a decent D-Corps moving forward. With some of the likes of Myers, Soucy and Forbort in the mix.

Don't trust Chytil at the 2C. I wonder if he gets packaged with Hoglander and another 1st to land an actual 2C, maybe someone who is getting a bit overpaid?

I dunno. Stupid lockeroom drama.

It’s why I liked the type of deal Calgary made.

Change of scenery deal for a younger player on a deal his current team wants to get out of.

I like Farabee and think he will do well away from Torts.

With their cap space, mgmt should be looking to do the same thing.

I really hope any Boeser trade involves a young NHL ready C prospect w/ 2C potential.

Or a 1st to trade for one in the off season I guess. Don't think you can wait long enough to draft one and develop and keep Hughes happy.

Maybe acquire a 1st for Boeser and flip both for a young C at the draft. If you're lucky maybe Bennett is a good stop gap.

I wonder if they’d view Dylan Cozens as a target for that sort of thing.

In order for this team to be better, considering the crap Benning left behind, management has to find a lot of guys to over perform their contract. When the goal is to do that, the hit rate is going to be low so it’s logical for them to make a lot of swings and it’s fine as long as they make sure those mistakes don’t stick.

I wonder if they’d view Dylan Cozens as a target for that sort of thing.
I wonder if Buffalo is paralyzed because they don’t want to be on another Reinhart trade.

Debrusk-Pettersson-Boeser
Chytil-Suter-Garland
Hoglander-Blueger-Karlsson
Joshua(?)-Raty-O'Connor

Hughes-Myers
Pettersson-Hronek
Soucy-Juulsen

Lank/Demko

Forbort, DiGiuseppe, Sherwood (injured)

What is supposed to happen with this roster? Two young guys, a couple of good supporting pieces, one star D and one struggling star forward, and a goaltender "controversy". Is this team now meant to compete? Are we writting off this year and trying to reform next year? I'm sure this is just damage control, but looking at the return for Granlund and Ceci, I feel like we got worked over with both of the previous trades. More to come?

We have an insider.

I think you let Suter walk and promote Raty or Sasson. Need to throw a huge contract at Ehlers, Marner, or Rantanen this offseason.

Even though he's not a center I really hope that we're in on Ehlers if/when he's available this offseason. I wanted him over Virtanen in 2014 and I don't think Winnipeg has done a good job getting the most out of him. We are going to need scoring help and I think he's a guy with untapped potential if given the opportunity we would be able to give him.

I just don’t understand why we didn’t move our 1st this year to get MPettersson at the start of the year.

How much stronger are we with him and Miller still on the team?

Supposedly, they tried. Pittsburgh kept insisting on Willander. That's been the major hurdle all season with trying to upgrade our defense. Every team wanted the one prospect we absolutely weren't trading. It didn't help Pittsburgh was also under the delusion they were a playoff team.
