there's also the reality that if you let the wheels go off for the rest of the season you take a risk with not being able to put them back on over the summer. we're one good season removed from being a perennial lottery team.
in general, this team has had enough drama this season and the risk of trade requests from valued players this offseason is already very real. as a student of body language i feel like several players on this team are periodically rallying from a steady state of depression and the team only plays well when multiple players pick that game to rally. prior to losing hughes, who always comes to play, a lot of that was covered up, but it's been very apparent lately.
boeser to me is a classic glue guy who gets along with everyone. so if the potential return for boeser was pitiful then i can see keeping the guy around to keep the boat afloat. depending on how the room is doing it's also a reason to extend him.
