Do you really want to watch Hughes on the Canucks if they’re a mid team who has no chance of winning?

Bad for the team and the player.
This team is going to need a major overhaul in regards to our forward group over the next 6-7 months. Essentially, if our team is bad next year then Hughes is gone as soon as that summer in which case you trade him for a massive massive haul and start to scorch earth this shit.

The Florida and Vegas thing only works if you have a franchise player. There is still time to make that happen. If you have a core that is capable of transforming into a cup contender the chances of Hughes staying increases exponentially as Hughes will naturally want to stay around for it being the leader and you can possibly get him for another 3-4 years which would be massive. The thing is, they have to start now and Marcus Pettersson, O Connor, and Chytil are excellent pieces. Hughes has to be pleased that at the very least our defense actually looks good moving forward.

Does the potential return for Hughes diminish as time clicks closer to his UFA year?
If it’s as close as the 2027 deadline? Probably, but even still, you’re going to get a real nice a haul/centerpiece for him.

I wondered how long the Soucy experiment on the right side with D-Petey was going to last. I thought it was a b it of a struggle for that pairing last night in Vegas.

I just can't see much chance Soucy passes through the TDL. He has a no-move contract, and wants to stay. But I still think the Canucks and the player will find an accommodation for him to move on.

I doubt they're recalling Mancini just to have him sit around in the press-box.

Canucks will follow their playbook.

Trade Boeser for a 1st and prospect from a Florida team, then trade the 1st for B Schenn and the prospect for L Schenn.

Soucy is done. He put more effort flipping the puck to the refs after whistles than any shift last night

I saw the Lightning might be interested in Boeser.

Geekie would be great as a possible return.

Tampa Bay is interesting because apart from Geekie and Howard, they just have draft picks. Maybe there’s more hidden gems that I’m unaware of. It’s an organization that is usually teaming with solid NHL depth that no one else can see.

I think this is one of the main reasons they did the Sergachev deal.

They acquired a capable replacement in Moser while bringing in Geekie to add to an ever diminishing prospect pipeline.

They are pretty locked in with most of their players but they don’t have anywhere near the same depth of upcoming players they use to have.

Why do some of you draw up trades with Hughes? Like just plug in your console already and play video games let the rest of us be realistic and talk real hockey.

Ideas that Hughes will be leaving are premature and can't be taken seriously or entertained at this point. And you don't trade a franchise player....ever. Hypothetically even when you get a guy like Dahlin back you'd notice a massive drop off from Hughes. Hughes is the top 1 in his position just let him be a Canuck ffs.

I think it was last summer, a thread on the main board asked if there is another team with a better combo of 1C, 1D and 1G than the Canucks.

Fast forward a few months and we are looking for a new 1C and 1G as both are both broken, and potentially beyond repairs. I blame that thread for bringing us bad karma!
