I trade lank at TDL if hes looking like a walk candidate

Yes.

You're not getting anything better than a mid pick for Lankinen.

And Demko is the new Mr.Glass.

You want Silovs to be in net for 40-50 games next year? You might as well start the rebuild early and send Hughes off to NJ then.

If there is even the smallest inkling whatsoever about Quinn Hughes not wanting to stay in Vancouver long-term.

You 100% have to trade him in the off-season at the absolute peak of his trade value.

Especially if they want to retool, if the organization decides that they want to rebuild, which is very unlikely, then feel free to wait until the trade deadline and and negotiate a signing until the last second.

Obviously, we’re still very early into this potentially happening, right now I would put it highly unlikely, but it’s good to be prepared for everything.

As for a fan though?
If Quinn Hughes decides to leave us, trade or not, it would probably be the most devastating blow for my fandom since the Stanley Cup loss and riot.

Just thinking out loud

This is the wrong take - sorry. Exploring a Quinn Hughes trade in the off-season when he has TWO years left is asinine.

Quinn's value won't waiver in the next offseason (2026) when he has a year left because he'll be eligible to sign an extension with his new team. Any trade would come with an understanding of an agreed upon extension. Hughes will also be worth $13-15M in his new deal, the team trading for him will need to dump some good players back to offset salaries.

You'll still get a massive haul if you trade him at the deadline with the new team as long as there's an extension or an understanding of a signed extension.

Quinn Hughes might be the best player to don a Canuck jersey ever. The number one goal is to build a competitive team around him to convince him to sign.

The Canucks can't retool if they trade Hughes. It will automatically be a rebuild by default... that's how good he is. The number one focus is building a competitive team. If they can somehow make this a WCF team, then being captain, face of the franchise, making $15M a year at a 8 year deal might be too enticing to pass up.

Totally agree.

Unfortunately, unless we get a new owner, we all know that if Hughes is traded because he won't re-sign here, that this organization will again refuse to rebuild and will try a compete now! retool on the fly strategy.

I'm game. You're absolute bonkers.

The Canucks are currently in a wild card slot and have a solid shot at overtaking the LA Kings for the #3 seat in the division. With Demko's availability a giant question mark, and Silovs proving to be at Cloutier levels of reliability this season, they simply need Lankinen. The little they'd get for trading him essentially ensures they have no shot at those juicy playoff dollars that Aquilini has his eyes on.

Canucks Army was postulating the same thing. Apparently it's a 'sellers market' for good, depth goaltenders at the TDL in a week and a half.

They might get as much for Lankinen as they're ever going to get--particularly if he's a candidate to 'walk' on July 1st.

It would leave the Canuck crease on shaky ground--but not much different than the playoffs last season.

Just something nice to spread around the forum today.

Lankinen has almost 20 wins playing behind the worst defense I could imagine this season.

Demko cant stay healthy and has 6 wins.

Silovs has 1 win in 7 GP.

I dont care if he walks. I dont care if he could fetch a 1st round pick in the 10-20 range.

We cannot trade him. If he becomes a own rental, that sucks but its ok. We are 3 points up on a playoff spot and people think this is the first time we're actually gonna start selling high on a player?

With this Lanks news today (him turning down a contract offer from us) what would everyone here do contract wise to keep him. Saw someone post earlier that if he wants to take us to the cleaners we let him bounce - that's kind of where I'm at. I will pay a premium for him - I would probably go 4 years x 4.25 would be my max - that would probably be a bit too rich for a lotta people here and I won't cry if he walks as we always seem to find a tender and Demko is still here.............signing him just gives us some security for a few years......

It really depends on the direction they want to go. I'd be willing to go 4.5-5M only if it means we're trading Demko and essentially giving Lankinen the reins. Otherwise, I really think you have to keep him under 4M.

Money talks.
Money can't win you a stanley cup though. If we want to keep him, we better build a great team to convince him to stay. If we cannot do that, we are better off trading him for a massive return.

Speaking about money, if money is truly what he is looking for then why would he stay in Vancouver where he has to pay a high tax compare to states like florida?

Delete this if not allowed, or if its too much. Let's say Carter Hart is found not guilty, and that is only if he is found not guilty. Should we give him a chance for signing him kevin's money next season?

I think if we can offer him a contract instead of signing him a PTO like most team would, we will certainly able to sign him for cheap
