The Canucks were that close to McDavid. The 2029 3rd is a deal breaker. No way.

i dont see how people have watched hoglander play these last couple weeks worth of games and want to get rid of him. he makes the team better when hes on the ice even if hes not getting many points. not only forechecks hard, but hes pretty good at keeping possession going that most other canucks would of fumbled. theres a reason lots of teams have tried to trade for him because they know his value is way higher then his points suggest, and are trying to get him on the cheap
I think he was just sick and tired of being bombarded by Canucks fans asking him when he is making his comeback.Pretty sure not playing for 3 seasons says enough I don't think you need to officially announce it lmao.
Technically, they don't need another centre if Chytil proves durable and capable.
But because of his injury risk and uncertain upside, and because he and Suter are both capable 3Cs already, the uncertainty is at the top end of Chytil's ability/durability. This suggests a 2C target to hedge against those concerns.

I don't know why everyone is packaging Lekk... he's going to be our Boeser replacement.
What would it take to get Tuch from the Sabres?
Pavel Buchnevich should be a name that we should be hounding the STL GM for.
They might be looking to do a soft rebuild - Buchnevich just signed a $50M extension and they might be looking to get rid of him if they are pivoting. Buchnevich is turning 30 in a couple months and his next best years are going to be wasted in STL. His current modified NTC becomes a full NTC when the extension kicks in next year.
Canucks are a team that should flex their cap space and willingness to spend here. Would be a great way to get Buchnevich for relatively cheap. Buch is a two way top six forward that would fit in with Tocch's system (not a one dimensional offensive F). The contract isn't great, but with the rising cap, $8M for a top six forward isn't going to be out-of-line.... think it would be a discount to get him as he's on a down year and turning 30 soon. A first and a roster player like Hoglander is probably not far off.
Schenn does nothing for the current forward group, they need a tenacious puck hound. A bigger GarlandComing in late but I don’t have any interest in Brayden Schenn.
I feel like that's the we want Norris specifically talk, much like the cozens talk, they definitely have had interest in both for awhile, but neither are currently upgrades on chytil. Also maybe both are wingers sooner or later, and i wouldn't be surprised by acquiring either specifically.@andora is almost exactly referencing the LeBrun tweet: They are prioritizing a centre.
Pierre LeBrun:
“The moment they lose J.T. Miller they want to go out and replace him. And obviously they got a good young player in Filip Chytil but the priority for Vancouver Canucks is to go find help at centre. Whether that happens before March 7 that would be a great bonus because they are still in a playoff race but the reality is bigger picture they are going to try to get that done before puck drop next fall,” says NHL insider Pierre LeBrun.
I go a step further in joining the Josh Norris rumours to the above.
Yikes, what is this blasphemy?Thatd be a good idea. Wonder what the cost is. Probably something like:
To Vancouver : McDavid, 2026 5th
To Edmonton: Lekkerimaki, 2025 1st, Hoglander, Soucy, 2029 3rd, Kunz, 2026 6th
Then rock:
Debrusk Pettersson Sherwood
McDavid Chytil Brock Boeser
Joshua Suter Garland
OConnor Blueger Aman/Karlsson

I dont think they're looking at or for the ROR, B. Schenn upgrades to chytil some have mentioned.
A scoring and/or physical winger more likely, a la greenway, hopefully Olivier, definitely possibly as well as someone with term they've been interested in previously.
We know now Rutherford had been after MP3 for almost three years..
That trade would be done before you finish pronouncing Lek’s full name.Lekkerimaki
I have a feeling that Canucks management will be interested in Brayden Schenn.Coming in late but I don’t have any interest in Brayden Schenn.
I still think there's the possibility Boeser is traded if they can't come to terms and then is immediately replaced in a somewhat lateral move. Like Boeser out, and then right away they announce a trade for Rakell (or whoever). That's not punting the season. It's directly replacing Boeser's spot with someone who's cost controlled for a few years.
If we were to somehow magically acquire Forsberg or Buchnevich Boeser is definitely out and that means Lekkermaki most likely is given a shot in the top 6. This is sort of the foundation:
Buchnevich - Petterson - Sherwood
DeBrusk - C - Lekkermaki
or something like that. I think we'll see Lekkermaki and one of O'Connor or Sherwood as top 6 staples as money is getting a bit tight. Definitely feel they need a 2nd line C which bumps Chytil down to the "third" line with Joshua and Garland.
I don't know about Buchnevich. a year ago, with two playoffs left on his deal at $5.8, I'd have been really interested. but his play has dropped off two years in a row and he's hasn't even started his 7 year big money contract. Kind of gives me Lindholm vibes. If we were to somehow magically acquire Forsberg or Buchnevich Boeser is definitely out and that means Lekkermaki most likely is given a shot in the top 6. I think Drance touched on this, but if you look at his deployment and you know anything about Travis Green he has thrown him to the wolves which means he loves this player. And he will be telling management this which likely means he will not be traded. I was just looking at Greens deployment while he was here he buried Beagle and Sutter.Just trade for Josh “Chuck” Norris

Basically how I remember Loui's time here:
