Here’s my spreadsheet for upcoming UFAs, each team’s cap situation, and a trade tracker. I update the spreadsheet daily. I use CapFriendly to create this list and AFP Analytics for the contract projections.

Edit: Spreadsheet has been updated with AFP's latest projections and I added a new section for RFAs.

I think they will either go all out and try to bring in Guentzel or go for the middle of the pack 3-4m-types. There just isn’t any real trade ammo.

Kapanen doesn’t improve the team at all. Doesn’t help the top-6 and I think they’ll try to keep Joshua-Blueger-Garland together so he’d be a 4th liner. With Allvin specifically saying they need to bring in a top-6 forward with speed and creativity, they’ll have to spend a bit in the free agent market.
It would be real hard to bring in a 9M winger into the fold. Canucks don't have value cap hits except for Hoglander. Kapanen I think they bank on improvement through coaching staff.

They have no assets for a trade either anymore. They used them all already. It's internal or free agency.

Yeah I feel like they will go for Guentzel and then make some bets on fast guys that can facilitate a rush game

Honestly I think hronek is their best trade bait for a winger for Pete. There are guys like buchnevich, Crouse, necas out there that teams would probably move for him and there are a number of decent dmen on the Ufa market. Add in that Hughes probably doesn't need as high a caliber of player as hronek as his partner... Like would you rather have Hughes-hronek and mid wingers for Pete or Hughes-tanev and higher end wingers. I think bang for buck you get more with better wingers for Pete.

Personally, I'd much rather have Hronek than a guy like Necas. I'm much more comfortable spending money on defenceman, though.

What do you guys think about Jake DeBrusk as a potential target? Would definitely help improve our speed and capable of putting up 20+ goals. Would be a major upgrade to play with Petey and wouldn't have the same pricetag that Guentzel would and is still relatively young.

What’s the projected cost?

Any team that is contending and needed a player like hronek, would stay away for the same reasons the canucks would wanna trade. The salary expectations. It's hard to fill a roster with good depth if you're to take on a long term let's say 7.5m-8+ salary, and if they're contenders, they are already probably top heavy.

Any team thats not contending won't give big assets I'd presume either, cuz why would they lose anything when they aren't going to contend and can just go bid for him in the year after? If he's to be traded I wouldn't assume there'd be alot coming back, def will be taking hit on what was paid originally.

*the following are AFP Projections*

RFAs:
Hronek = 7y/7.5m
Silovs = 2y/1.0m
Karlsson = 1y/0.874m

UFAs:
Joshua = 4y/3.25m
Blueger = 2y/2.17m
Myers = 2y/3.16m
Dillon = 2y/2.86m
Desharnais = 1y/1.11m

If you include Mikheyev in that roster, that leaves the team with 4.5m in cap space (LTIR because of Poolman). If you manage to subtract Mikheyev without taking on any additional cap, you end up with about 9.25m in total space. Guentzel's AFP projection is 7y/9.28m.

Alternately, Zadorov's projection is 5y/5.30m. Remove Desharnais and Mikheyev and that leaves 5m in cap space. AFP has Viktor Arvidsson at 3y/4.75m (I think that's quite high given his age, size, and injury history) but let's use those numbers. Has the Canucks just under the cap.

I'd prefer the other 2 guys but necas' name is out there

Fundamental problem with moving Hronek is then finding a replacement. The Canucks defence has been atrocious for so long and the minute they have a good mix, I don't think they are willing to move it for more forward help. It's possible to make it work but I'm not convinced it's a route the team will go down unless Hronek forces their hand.

I was just thinking of this as wrinkle to my expectations. I think if they can bring him back for longer term but slightly smaller cap-hit (he expressed disappointment at constantly changing teams and seems like he just wants to settle down with his family) they will do that and get a less impactful forward.

In the playoffs he was frequently on the ice as Hughes partner and with Allvin very plainly stating that he’d like to split up Hughes and Hronek, there’s a willingness to use him in an elevated role in his off-side.

The other thing with Zadorov is if he leaves, who do you fill the top four defense with? Do you just roll with Hughes/Hronek and Soucy/Myers again, and add third pairing guys? Can Myers and Soucy be relied on to stay healthy enough to remain in the top four?

Necas is reportedly asking for $6-7 million long term. I think he has good comparables for that $7 million dollar range to be honest. I would much rather pay Hronek $8 million (would not pay him that) than pay Necas $7 million. You can find player like Necas in Ufa they are not hard to find.

That’s what they did to start the season.

Mayfield contract was for a grand total of $24M. I think Zadorov is targeting at least $30M. But something like $4.25M x 7 for Zads I could see.
I'd probably do that deal at $4.25. he'd be playing the final year at the same age Ian Cole is now. decent chance he's still a productive player.

I liked sherwoods game watching the preds series, he'd be a nice filler on the 4th

I circled his name before today, and I wonder about him even more after when Allvin talks about “finding the next Dakota Joshua”. He had a bit of a breakthrough season, his first full one in the NHL, and he hits everything that moves. 27 points in a bottom six role and a goal in the post season - I’d definitely be up for bringing him in.

Not a bad idea. One I hadn’t thought of.

I prioritize the big man ahead of all else. Then Lindy. If numbers don’t work trade their rights, ditto Dakota. No more mongoloid comments saying they ran out of time.

Hronek is a good player but the number needs to start with a 6. This management seems a lot more proactive in solving the issues and moving on. The last boozer couldn’t run a hotdog stand.

He’s taken a pretty step back the last couple seasons. With his recent injury, I’d be terrified of offering him any term.
