You want an injury prone winger and an undersized winger to play around a centre core of 33 YO Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat? Makes absolutely no sense for the Islanders. Canucks don't even need Barzal and they'd be losing a lot of their winger depth but that is such a homerun deal they'd still have to take it

Seems like you are contradicting your own thoughts in those sentences. And in case you haven't noticed, Barzal hasn't played center this year, he's been Horvat's winger. We need goal scorers; Barzal is just not that, he's pass first, and we just need to reconfigure how we play offense.

This is speculation moreso than rumor.
Friedman said it was just in his head, and the video doesn't mention trading Pettersson at all.

I would love to see a bigger trade. Something like this maybe:

To Van: Zibanejad, Kakko, pick
To NYR: JT Miller, Hoglander, Desharnais

Cap would be very close. Vancouver basically moves all 3 guys they are having issues with. NYR moves the guys they have concerns with.

I think change of scenery may work out here. Miller should be happy to go back to NY where I could see him have bigger role this time around. Hoglander will add some speed to NYR, which they need. Desharnais can be useful depth now that Trouba is gone.

For Vancouver, Zibanejad will join a nice group of Swedes so he may like that. Kakko could fit in nicely in their top 9 too…

It seems like the gist if it is EP and Miller can't coexist and EP will be the one to go.
I strongly doubt that for a few reasons:
1. EP is 5 years younger than JT
2. EP is their #1 Center, not JT
3. When issues began it was JT who had to take time off from team, not EP
4. From what I read JT has issues with more than 1 teammate

Murphy and Hall 50% for Desharnais and 1st

Garland-Miller-Boeser
Hall-Pettersson-Debrusk
Heinen-Suter-Sherwood
Joshua-Blueger-Hoglander

Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Murphy
Forbert-Myers
Yeah, it's this kind of deal that I more-or-less expect, and I don't mind it for a Canucks POV.

I am much higher on Hall than 99.9% of most people and think he would complement the forward group nicely.

I like Murphy too, and he definitely helps, but the Canucks do need a guy that can raise the floor of their puck-moving and play-making from the back-end. Not sure if Murphy is that.

Murphy is not that but he will eat minutes and be physical. You wont be nervous with him on the ice.

This makes sense as the Canucks and Blackhawks love dealing with each other, apparently our GMs are in a group chat with two other mystery GMs.

edit: Allvin said he was in a small one and the others were narrowed down to be some number of Dubas, Davidson, Conroy, and potentially Conroy.

I agree with your stance but certainly not for these reasons (minus 1). Miller and Pettersson are as close to a 1a / 1b as you'll find in the league (both in TOI and matchup) and, with the exception of the brief time they were reunited on the lotto line earlier this year, Miller has clearly been the better player for the last 1.5 years. 3 and 4 are straight up conjecture and shouldn't be entertained at all.

Friedman is completely spitballing here. If a Canucks trade is imminent I would bet my life savings it would be something small a la Desharnais shipped out or Hoglander + a pick for some help on defence.
